Violet Sanford, a girl in her early 20s, goes to the Big Apple to pursue a dream of becoming a songwriter. While waiting for her dream to come true, she lands a day job as a bar maid at a nightclub called Coyote Ugly, the city's newest hot spot. Here, the all-female employees cater to the largely male clientele by treating them with a good deal of sass. As Violet starts work, her aspirations are at least temporarily sidelined by the notoriety she receives at the bar.
