Pros

A Graphical Powerhouse with an Intriguing Storyline and Breathtaking Environmental Animation!

Cons

This Final Fantasy is more linear than its predecessors, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Review

If you're anything like me, then you've been anticipating Final Fantasy 13 for a while now. Personally, it didn't disappoint. Other hardcore Final Fantasy fans don't like it because its more linear than the previous installments. I don't see that as a bad thing. In fact, it being linear gave me more reason to finish the game. I think it did a great job of bringing in new fans who are a fan of linear games. Being too open might not get the sells that Square Enix might have wanted.

The graphics are top notch. Especially the cut scenes. The imagery always leaves you wondering, who could've came up something so beautiful? The creators of the Final Fantasy games have some of the most creative minds I've ever witnessed. Only in a Final Fantasy game could you experience the environments that they create.

All in all, even if you're a hardcore fan of the Final Fantasy series and don't like the idea of this game being more linear, give it a try anyway. You won't be disappointed.

Pros

Battle System, characters, environments, story, graphics, atmosphere

Cons

villains, cant go back to old areas

Review

This game is fantastic. There are no useless towns to waste time in. Instead of wasting money on all kinds of armor and weapons you need only worry about equipping one weapon and accessory. The story and characters are much more interesting than those of FFXII (my god, that game was terrible...). I was never left wondering why the hell any of the characters were wandering around together, you know, like in...FFXII. The leveling system is also better than FFXII, similar to FFX's in fact. No longer do you have to worry about losing all you progress when a king behemoth casts meteor after being manhandled and then rapes your entire party. If you lose a battle, you can just retry. Your party is also healed after every battle. Don't worry about the game getting too easy because even normal monsters can defeat you. The battle system is a lot of fun too and revolves around creating a set of roles for you party and then switching roles while in battle. You can also queue commands and unleash them at once. In conclusion everything about FFXIII is streamlined and accessible. Then game oozes with quality. The visual and soundtrack are great too. I never get tired of the battle theme. If you are fan of past Final Fantasies or rpgs in general then I implore you to at least give this game a try.

Pros

It is a good Final Fantasy game. One of the best but not like #7.

Cons

Not much individual character development - it is more plot development. If you crave to name you character and watch him/her grow this won't do it. You watch the whole cast grow. Not as personable I think.

Review

Graphics are 5. I watch it close, and see nice details. Very smooth and is one that impresses guests.

Audio is 5. My limited audio system is at its peak with this one. Sounds great though I needed to pump up the volume a bit.

Plot 3.8. I saw many of the plot changes coming.

Environment 5. This is a typical Final Fantasy game, leaving you totally submerged in their world.

Conclusion:
Pick this up if you are any RP game fan at all. I play a wide variety so I get to appreciate the many different things they have done here. The game is a must for RP fans in that it doesn't disapoint. Be open about the development and let the game take control. Fight scenes are great, much strategy to let you feel like you have an individual style. I found the fight strategies more complicated than other games- but I quickly caught on and soon found myself flying through the controls. I even found it limiting at times (paradigms and crystallum developments). The talents and character growth are very interesting and fun to use. As any other good thing, you are always wanting more - so fighting enemies is a necessity to get more points. At times it gets a bit monotonous (what rpg isnt?).

I don't remember how many hours I put in it but I don't regret them. I rank RPG's in 4 categories:

1. Will play again (unlock more, try again with different outcomes, just fun!)
2. Consider playing again (more to do, willing to give it another go)
3. Fun but not again!
4. Wasted my time. Maybe I didn't even finish it!

Final Fantasy I put in #2. Almost a #1 because I know there is more after the game. It was fun, but there are more games out there right now. As it goes below $30 it should be in any RPGer's cabinet.Delete

Pros

Great cast of characters, top notch graphics, good story, fun battlesystem, fitting music and beautiful environments!

Cons

Lack of mini-games and some parts in the game are a bit too long...

Review

Well first of all this game is my favorite Final Fantasy along with X and VII, I think this game is great in its own way, just like all other Final Fantasy games.

The Battlesystem starts of easy and in the beginning of the game you pretty much mash the attackbutton... however a bit later in the game it becomes much more challenging and more importantly very fun to play where you have to adapt tactics with your different paradigms to win. This is a great combination between action and tactics and I think it works very well!

The story might be a little tought to grasp at first but the longer you play, the more you will understand because as the game progresses there are also flashbacks from the different characters point of view and you will see that all of these thing will mix together perfectly when you have played for a while.

Some people might say this game is linear and it is, however I dont see it's a bad thing cause most of the other Final Fantasy games have also been very linear so if you want a game that has alot of exploring but dont give a shit about the story, this isnt a game for you. But if you want a game that focuses on the story and not as much on exploring this is the game for you!

The Grahpics are amongst the best games out there and especially the prerendered scenes are simply the best! The music fits very well with the environments and mood of the game and some of the songs are really catchy and memorable!

One of few things I have to complain about is the lack of mini-games cause there would have been nice if there was something else to do than fighting and riding a chocobo, but that's not really a big problem for me because the rest of the game is so great!
So this doesn't really affect the overall score; 5/5
