Very sleek design, size, amazing construction and quality of build, impressive and rich sound for their size
Cons
None for the size and design, but I guess the sub-woofer's not gonna blow you away and you're not the same bang for your buck compared to a full size setup (again, not really cons for what these are)
Review
I picked up a set last year and was pretty excited to try these out for my home theatre as that purchase marked my first foray in (relatively) high end audio. I wasn't initially planning on taking this route; I was waiting for some sales to build a full size setup but got impatient and after doing my research, I made the purchase. I paired them with a Pioneer VSX-9140TXH (the retail version of the Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH) and the end result was a phenomenal upgrade over my old $400 HTIB (having since upgraded to this and later a full size Energy setup, I have no idea how I lived with that sort of setup before). Listening to lossless HD audio and PCM tracks off Blu-ray movies is a great experience with these speakers - the sound is full and well-produced. The quality and attention to detail is quite impressive in these speakers. Additionally, KEF has given us one of the sexiest looking audio hardware in the market - the looks will blow you away and enhance the style of any living room or bedroom you may install them in.
These KEFs are beyond amazing for their size, but you can do better for the money if space is not an issue. For what these are--satellite speakers--I have never heard better sounding speakers (at least in this sort of price range) and I demoed a ton at a variety of stores. This shatters anything from Bose for the brainwashed out there. The sound is brilliant, crystal clear and very refined. The speakers generally have very excellent response and the sound produced is very cohesive - the dispersion is truly incredible. The centre speaker is the best of the bunch and the sub performs well for its size. Probably the sleekest looking sub I've seen. High WAF here, folks.
One of my minor gripes was the useless manual provided - it is extremely minimalistic and fails to cover enough details for the set up of the speakers. It's full of vague pictures with no annotations or a text description and using it might be a bit frustrating for newbies. Overall, these speakers earn a high recommendation from me but you can do better for the money if space is not an issue for you. As I live in a town house, I a) do not have lots of space and b) can't blast the volume very high so these were an excellent solution for me.
