Lockout was a movie, we have all seen. The trailer seems very intriguing. There are people in the movie industry linked to the film which adds respectability, there are many cool, fun, awesome scenes in the trailer. Then the film debuts and all the funny one liners in the trailer are the only funny one liners in the film period. The story is a good story, the future is poorly depicted, the film really lets the background take a back seat even though it is set so far in the future. The bad guys have no redeemable qualities nor acting capabilities. The only person that makes the movie even somewhat enjoyable is the films protagonist Guy Pearce. He is witty charming handsome and uncouth we could say. Maggie Grace fails dramatically to give anything close to a performance noteworthy of her only real movie Taken. Story ends up foundering when the movie is only 90 minutes long. Overall action is ok, story very poor, character development poor, exposition is ok, and in the end it lives out the very essence of predictability. I was entertained by it, but it lacked what a good film has and thats a cerebral quality to it. I would watch it if it was on tv.
