Clear, room-filling sound.
Small and convenient so it doesn't take up much space.
A lot of bang for your buck (literally)
Cons
Can't quite produce a true surround effect all the time.
Review
I've had the Sony HT-CT100 for nearly two years now and it hasn't let me down with any Blu-ray that I watch. The powerful, yet relatively small, sub woofer produces powerful bass that you can feel throughout my bedroom during action-heavy scenes. It can fit just about anywhere you want but keep in mind that it is wired so you won't be able to move it far away from the sound bar, which isn't a problem for me since I try to keep all of my entertainment equipment in the same area of my room, but it could be for someone else.
The sub woofer also works as the receiver of the system, with a small LCD screen that allows you to maneuver through the various settings (Volume control of each speaker, Sleep Timers, etc.). On the back of the sub woofer, you will find the various inputs and outputs, the main two that I have used so far is the optical cable inputs and HDMI, but keep in mind that with the HDMI input, the first HDMI cord must be ran from the source into the sub woofer's "HDMI in" and a second ran out of the "HDMI out" into the television. I used this until I upgraded to a 3DTV, which the HT-CT100 doesn't support, though the loss in sound quality with an optical cable is minimal. I have my television, satellite receiver, PS3 all plugged into their own optical cable input.
Though the sound bar is stated to have three speakers, it can actually produce the sound of seven, creating the faux surround sound that actually sounds surround at times, but to achieve this, you must sit centered in front of the bar because being at an angle will not allow the sound to travel around you in order to get this effect. Being a sound bar, I'm not being too critical on the fact that it doesn't always produce a surround sound since it's a bit expected when it comes to them. However, it always gives a very crisp and loud sound, which fills the room nicely and gives you that theatrical impact.
While I wouldn't recommend this to anyone whose looking for it to be their primary sound for a home theater room or a large room, I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't have the space or money or a complete 5/7.1 set-up. I promise you will not be disappointed.
