Zero Dark Thirty is the very definition of postmodernism: watching a movie about something that happened barely a year ago. While watching it, it felt weird knowing how recent the actual event was. But at the same time it felt very natural since that is becoming a common thing now-a-days. I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie. Some people accuse all but the last forty minutes of this movie to be very boring. They couldn't be more wrong. It was gripping from start to finish. The dialogue was extremely well written. The scenery and situations felt authentic (whether or not they were is another story). The musical score invoked just the right mood. This movie has also been accused of being Pro-Obama. I didn't feel like that was the case. I felt like it just told the story of how Bin Laden was found from the perspective of the people actually making it happen. If anything, it made our President look weak for not allowing torture. I'm not necessarily stating my opinion, I'm just talking about what the movie would make one think. All the actors did a great job, especially Jessica Chastain, who was very convincing in her strung-out obsession with finding Bin Laden. I was a little surprised they got known actors to be some of the SEALS. But they all did fantastic. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone interested in good movies based on true events. A note on content: This movie is rated R. So going in to it, one should know that it does depict some torture, including water boarding. Also, there are tons of "F" words. However, I did not feel that the language or the torture were gratuitous or detracted too much. There is also some male rear nudity with an extremely brief silhouette of genitals. Overall, this movie was excellent and I would highly recommend it to those who would be comfortable with the subject matter and the way it is covered. It is definitely a pro-America movie that justifies its' position by the content it depicts. This movie reinforced my pride in being an American, it's just sad that these things are happening in the world today.
