In 1955, a tough, skinny guitar-slinger who called himself J.R. Cash walked into the soon-to-be-famous Sun Studios in Memphis. It was a moment that would have an indelible effect on U.S. culture. With his driving freight-train...
I bought this BD for my mother not really knowing what it was about, I just knew it was a biographical movie about the life of late Johnny Cash.
Little did I know that this movie would be so poignant and completely absorb me.
It had a great Forrest Gump vibe to it, the kind of movie that you know will keep going downhill but still have the humour and sudden changes that ultimately make you feel happy.
Concerning the technical details.
The video quality was very good, although I noted grain in a few dark scenes, but overall, very very good quality shown on this disc.
The audio aspect was the one that the Blu-ray makers couldn't mess up with given the fact that music plays such an important part in the movie. With a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track, the movie gets its true recognition. The sound is fantastic.
The movie is presented in a double BD edition with bonuses I've yet to have watched. So I can't really comment on that. Though there seems to be a lot of stuff on the BD so it might be worth a try.
Overall this movie receives my highest recommendation to anyone who desires to know more about Johnny Cash, as well as true movie lovers.
