You had stated that your sub was the least impressive performer. I am not sure what you're doing wrong here. I have a similar set up and the sub shakes the entire apartment at a paltry 20% of the volume. I see you've a Pioneer receiver. I would do a manual tuning, have you checked the settings of the sub in the receiver, may be it is set too low. Check if there is a dynamic volume setting in your receiver. I initially had a Yamaha receiver powering the KEFs. No oomp whatsoever! I was so very disappointed. It turned out the problem was the receiver. Your sub is placed close to the wall, which is a good thing. My Denon just gets the best out of these speakers, especially the sub. Dynamite combo!!!!! The depth of the bass is incredible even at low volumes. The bass shook the bejesus out of me especially when I played "War of the Worlds" BD again at a paltry 20% of the volume. Btw: Nice set up:)

I might do that - but money is tight most of the time. Living and studying in Vancouver sure gets expensive. If I do, I don't know if I would get something higher-end from KEF to match my current set because their higher end subs are a bit overpriced and way over my budget, unless I find some insane deal like 50% off (which is the sale I scored for this set). For now, this setup suits me just fine. By the way, I recall finding the individual surround speakers available on eBay for about $300 or $350 per pair. It's a little expensive. You might find the surrounds you're after there.

Good info! I was think about using the individual speakers for my four rear surround speakers. I would need to find a good deal and I doubt most places would break up the set. I have always heard the subs are lacking but if you got the set for a deal than you could just add a better sub and use it as a second sub.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I'm glad you like my humble setup. I've redone some of the wiring and it's much neater now. @jdub: in short, these KEFs are beyond amazing for their size, but you can do much better for the money (if you don't get a good deal on them) if space is not an issue. The sound is brilliant, crystal clear and very refined. The speakers generally have very excellent response and the sound produced is very cohesive - the dispersion is truly incredible. The centre speaker is the best of the bunch but the sub is definitely the least impressive performer. I've only had these for about 2 months so I've still got some time to get to know them a bit better. I live in a small town house and this means not only do I have limited space, but I also can't be blasting the sound all the time! So this was the best solution for me. Plus, they look as good as they sound! I spent about $1200 on these in total, which I thought was an excellent deal, and I'm extremely satisfied. Hope that helps.
