Notice all speakers are hidden in the theater. LCRs plus Sub are behind the screen, while side surrounds are inside columns, and last rear mono 7.1 surrounds are in the ceiling. In addition, there is an Aura Pro Bass Shaker wired underneath each of the recliner for a full explosive movie experience. (Uploaded Jul 02, 2009 15:16:17)

Thanks BlackMamba, the riser is actually a foot higher than the first row, I used a special mathematic formula that's available on AVSForums which determines how much higher the back row needs to be in order to still be able to see the full screen, so there is no obstruction of view from the back row. As far as the cutouts, a couple of others on this page agree with you that it looks tacky or immature....it's really just a personal choice, which most people actually compliment me on, but I understand there are a few out there that will absolutely hate it. Thanks for your honesty and your feedback. Check out my full construction thread at AVSForum, just do a search on that site for DAMNSAM77 or Cedar Peaks Cinema.

oh, and is it hard to see over the first row if you're sitting in the second? Doesn't seem like it's elevated and the seats are really big.

Can I say that the cardboard cutouts next to the actual screen look a little tacky (even if the movies/characters themselves are cool)? Other than that, I'm jealous and wish I could have something even remotely as awesome as what you have. Nice job man!

wow, thanks for the awesome comments guys. I will be updating this page with new pictures of my upcoming custom retro bar which will nicely fit the traditional or classic movie theater red/black look. I also need to take pictures of my AV rack, AV room w/ my BD collection and I should probably post a URL for my extensive AVS construction thread which has a heck of a lot more pictures. I also plan to fix up my arcade cabinet by adding some marquee/sideart and misc graphics, because it still looks unfinished. As far as speakers, I am using what I already had which is the Klipsch RF83 "reference" speakers with the RT-12D Klipsch reference sub, plus matching Klipsch reference side and back surrounds. Yeah I know Klipsch is not the first thing you think of nowadays with high end systems, but I already had them and they sound amazing to my very picky ear especially when my room has been acoustically treated properly. I would love to shell out more money for new badass surround speakers, but for now these speakers are MORE than good enough, and when you add the powered 50 watt bass shakers, it's a movie experiences that will trumpet any commercial movie theater IMHO. Last, I had already mentioned this, but I did change the columns from black/red/black/red to black bottom and all red top to match the walls.

That's one beautifully executed theater you have there......Makes me wish I had a home instead of a co-op......You've captured the true essence of the movie theater experience...Can't wait to see the bar installed....I'd also like to see the related electronics in that rack......just curious

Thanks Bounty/Sean/Uziel, I wanted an AWE-inspiring dramatic entry that reminded you of the classic movie theaters, the oly problem is that I don't have enough lighting to show off everything in the entrance, I am running 100watt equivelant CFL light which is pretty bright but I still feel the entry could use more light. Anyhow, thanks again for your compliments, it was pictures of other finished or "in-progress" theater constructions that inspired me to take on such a crazy project, but if I can do it with virtually zero construction experience, anyone can!

Thanks, trust me you won't envy me when you see how much cash, blood, sweat I had to put into this theater. I was completely miserable and disconncected fromt the outside world for almost a year. Unfortunately with my low budget, I couldn't simply pay the pro's to do a complete job from start to finish. I did about 95% of the work myself...I still haven't full recovered mentally and financially

Bowers, that's exactly why my wife and I havent gone to the movies in months. I think about the only movies I would go to see in the theater would have to be 3D movies, something like Avatar which is gonna come out during the holidays. We purposely missed Transformer 2, District 9, Terminator Salvation, GI Joe, Hangover, XMen, Ice Age 3 and many many more movies. The way I see it, I can pay $20 for the both of us to see the movie in the theater, or I can wait 3 months and pay $20 and own the movie, and having this dedicated theater in place helps in this regard because the experience I get in my theater is FAR better than any movie theater out there.

alisraza16, Floorex8, and BrokenThumb,
Thanks for your awesome feedback. I really do appeciate reading all these great comments, it sure makes me feel a little bit better about having absolutely no life for almost a whole year during the construction. By the way I slightly redid the columns where the top is all red, no more red/black/red/black. so I will be taking new pictures of the columns and also of the AV rack now that my HTPC is finished and racked, and all the other components have been re-racked.

scorpion83, sorry for the misunderstanding, I too at first almost fell for the 1-through-10 rating, since it's really 5/5 rating after dividing it by 2. The rating system is a bit confusing and it would make a lot more sense if they either change the full rating to 10/10 with 10 stars, or 5/5 with 5 stars. Thanks for the compliments, always good to know another fellow coloradan on the bluray forum.

literati819, Thanks for the compliments. I only use my Denon 3808 for 7.1 surround in addition to the Berhinger stereo amp for the 8 Aura bass shakers and that sounds phenomenal on its own, and at this point I am running out of space in my AV rack. Also I never thought of havig the theater featured in a magazine because I didn't think it was good enough for a feature, plus I wouldn't know where to start as far as getting in touch with an AV magazine to get in featured. But it's something to think about. If you have any tips regarding that process let me know. Thanks

Dude ... your theatre is just awesome ! I am relatively new to this community and the rating was a mistake ... I did not intend to give this wonderful project a 2.5 rating .. Did not know that the rating is divided by 2 !! LOL .... I intended a 5 out of 5 and it took it as 2.5

Absolutely stunning. This theater should be featured in a magazine! Have you ever considered adding outboard amplification to your system, or does the Denon receiver satisfy your tastes? Keep up the excellent work!
