A Cambridge Audio P500 allowing me to Bi-Amp my fronts. Clearly I need to dust.

Here's a revision of my set up with the above P500 in place. The picture on the TV is from The Pacific bluray. The depth in the shot is quite amazing.

Just another screen shot, obviously not close up. The ship pops off the screen, I did loose some of the blue in the sky with this picture though. Also from The Pacific bluray.

Pioneer Kuro LX5090, Pioneer SC-LX73 AV reciever, Pioneer BDP-LX71, Pioneer LX70a, Sky + HD, Mordaunt-Short Avant 914i floorstanders, Mordaunt-Short 905i center, Rel Q50 subwoofer and Optimum AV rack.

Just a record of swapping the old non HDMI amp with the 7.1 3D ready beast. Oh and a lot less cable too ;-)

I really like the look of the Pioneer remotes. Once I get fully to grips with the new amp I'm sure I will be just using the amps remote.

Cheesy title I know but hey. Again the amp. Pioneer SC-LX73, top blu-ray player is the Pioneer LX71 and the bottom BD player (set up for DVD via component and the output res set tp 576P as I don't like upscaling DVD to 720 or 1080p) is the Pioneer LX70a

For now i'm keeping the Pioneer PD 207 CD player, CT W208R twin tape deck and the MJ-D508 minidisc player as I think it is a nice DAC plus I still use the MD player. Also I have added back my Sony VHS player now I have the room. I still got some old skool tapes on good ol' VHS, mainly music vidos

Thanks man, yeah the Cambridge Audio makes quite a difference in opening up the sound and revealing more. Haha yup I still have some VHS tapes so I need then payer.

Hi there. Er I have to say I'm not 100% sure. I've not seen the light come on on the amp. I have looked into it before but couldn't seem to turn it on on my player. Guess I'll have to get the manuals out and have a look. Yes the amp is doing all the work decoding all the audio. Despite some of the things I say on this site I still have a lot to learn but these things are never just straight forward and thats where I get frustrated lol. If PQLS is making a difference and its better then your doing good. I used to have the LX71 decoding the audio on my old VSX909 RDS, its seemed to do an alright job.

Hi Glacial, are you rocking with PQLS? I take it that the LX71 and SC-LX73 both support bitstream with PQLS or just multichannel? I am currently decoding in player and sending PCM via HDMI from my LX52 to my VSX-921 with PQLS enabled. And to me there is a slight improvement in sound quality .

Great observation MrFattBill. It was crooked at the time. It is now straight. I decided to go for a wall mount with an arm so I could gain easy access to the rear of the telly knowing I would be upgrading my cables. The Pioneer wall mount which I have would put it too close to the wall for easy access. I think the TV was slightly onesided on the bracket when it was mounted so the left side dippep slightly under the weight. Its still on the wall and hasn't fallen off, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Nice looking setup but your TV seems to hanging crooked (it's noticeably lower on the left).

Thanks Zippo and Bluvette for your comments. I will say about the VHS player going back in. When I finished setting up the Pioneer amp that of course I had to make sure all sources worked properly. So I put in Iron Maidens "Maiden England" concert from 1988 and even though I have watched it 100s of time the audio never sounded so good and clear. I'm using a Cambridge Audio premium audio visual interconect 75OHM scart lead and the picture is pretty good too (considering how much its been played over the years)

Pioneer fan? Kudos for putting your VCR back in your system... If you want an VCR audio treat, pick up & watch a VHS hi-fi-encoded movie, with your receiver decoding source direct or Dolby Pro Logic llx. A couple of titles to give a try( for the musical content ) are: "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" & "Xanadu" . from January 2012 issue of Home Theater Magazine, Vintage Gear article: "The new hi-fi format, while still analog, had CD-quality sound thanks to the use of audio frequency modulation (AFM), in which the recorded stereo audio signal was essentially hidden under the video signal on the same section of tape then extracted on playback.
