Although they can be changed from Monopole to Di-pole via a 12V trigger, I have them permanently set to Di-pole. I really did not hear much difference between the two when I was playing with some of my multi-channel SACD's.
Changes since replacing the Polk surrounds: new mirror, SVS sub moved next to couch, and coffee table.
I am hoping to make a cover for the mirror for both acoustical reasons and to minimize the reflection of the TV back onto the TV (I use a blanket right now). Also, the coffee table is moved out of the way to prevent unwanted reflections.
Thanks everyone for the comments. I did not realize that my ratings were on.
And to answer your question, Bob. I only have the lights on when taking pictures or to find something that may be on the floor of elsewhere in the room. The candles on the sub and fireplace makes a very warm and inviting environment to listen to music. When the 65" TV is on, the room is almost as bright as if the overhead light is on. Not really, but it seemed it the first time I turned it on. I was like "WOW! This is a ton of light."
Wow,I was going to write a comment but after ldgibson76's entry, my typical "NICE SETUP" seems pretty pathetic. So I'll get a dictionary, a thesaurus and some tutoring and will be back in three weeks to write a glowing comment Gibson style?
Wow Lou. I can't believe I didn't post a comment in your gallery. Okay, here goes...... Lou you have composed a masterpiece here. The new Panny 65" VT30 is at the peak of the crescendo. You've done a wonderful job putting your room and this system together. Very methodical in both configuration and execution. The room is tastefully furnished. Every piece makes a statement. From the selection of the Onk 5508 to the M2 Tech DAC to the in-wall B&W's to the DIY iso platforms (cutting boards-ingenious, by the way). Just an all around great effort. It's been a joy watching the progression of your masterpiece. Congrats.
I thought it was about time for me to rate your system Lou. I'm really liking how everything just blends nicely with the room and the new Plasma just brings the big picture big sound theme full circle.
You have the cleanest simple HT on this site. High end gear that fits the room perfectly. Great job brother, and i know those B&W bring tears to your eyes.
