The difference between 5.1 and 7.1 is minimal for movies, you only notice it in "some" action movies. However, games do beautifully in 7.1, it adds extra directionality. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue with 7.1 LPCM, and World of Warcraft are some examples.

The screen looks really small in this shot, until you start to bring it into perspective by looking at everything around it. As a monitor, is rather nice, and BIG. ^^

Left side had a closet, which threw off the look I was going for. Removing the doors and putting black curtains instead fixed that problem right away.

This is my bedroom, so I sleep here. =P

There's a huge sliding door at the right, I covered that with black curtains.

After going through the hassle of soldering the banana-plugs, reconnecting cables gets so much easier.
The back wall is green because this was my old place.

Yeah, I have a new display. In this pictures I was using a 37" Westinghouse LVM-37w3se, then I upgraded to a 54" Panasonic S1, then replaced by a 52" Samsung LN52B750, and finally upgraded to my current 58" Panasonic V10. I just kept returning tvs until I found one that fully satisfied me, and the V10 was that answer I was looking for. Also the apartment is different. However, I plan to add some treatment in the future so it can sound as good as how it sounded in this pictures. My current room just doesn't compare, there are too many reflections, peaks&nulls, etc. Hopefully some treatment to the walls will bring my setup back to it's glory days.

Your surround sound speakers should be behind the couch facing the way you have them. Just move them back. The surround sound would be much better. Rather, move the couch forward so you are further away from your rear speakers.
