I love that your not just throwing money at this. I mean if I had great funds to put into play things I want, I would not have come up with something as special as what you have done. I am impressed by the level of artistry and commitment that you have put into this. Amazing. By the way I have posted both builds on a Facebook audio group that I created. Just really impressed. Thank you for sharing!
My gosh, slap me silly and call me an idiot. I was completed fooled.. I thought the B&W's were authentic 800 series diamonds and were purchased. It was not until I looked at the link of the build process.... I'm shocked..
@prerich,
I am using channelD, pure music. I think you recommended it about a year ago and it works wonders. I would not wanna listen to it without it!
@B.Hulk,
I am trying to put a slideshow together with all the pictures I have. It makes it easier to watch. I have a building thread in the speaker forum section. I will post it soon in my gallery.
@kevon,
The KEF clones are in storage for right now until my center speaker is completed. Sometime next year, I will upgrade to the xsp-1 and go balanced.
@Hamp,
I have one port plugged on each SVS a long time ago, it just does not show on the pictures. But thanks for the advice anyway.
@prerich
So you are using your B&W clones in a computer audio setup ! What software are you using, might I suggest Channel D, Ammare, or Jriver 18 for Mac? Trust me...you need one of these to do computer audio right;)!
That last thing you need is a recommendation, because you have some really amazing systems. I do want to tell you, that you should use the one port plug on each of your SVS’s and set the tuning to 16hz, so you can feel more and get some of what is special about those subs utilized. With all ports open, they are not able to go down as deep. That size room, you will not lose any SPL from them, but you will gain much more depth.
I could not agree with you more about the Hobbit. It is coming out soon. I have been listening to it on audiobook and watching the Lord of the Rings in preparation. Amazing setup. You chose your user name well!
I can't believe I have not rated this HT. Love the attention to detail and all the DIY components. I also like the Les Mis screen shot, though I am more of a fan of the 10th Anniversary version than the 25th (wish it was released on blu).
@wes, it is a 11.4 speaker setup but i need to upgrade my receiver to be able to handle all speakers at once. Right now i always switch between front height and back rear depending on the soundtrack. Usually, if it's a 5.1 track, i matrix the front height and if it's a 7.1 track, i use my rears.
Hey jenslyn, I always switch between my back surrounds and the front heights, depending on the soundtrack (5.1 or 7.1). Unfortunately, my receiver does not support playing both channels at the same time!
When my front heights are playing, I think it sounds more bombastic. I actually prefer the fronts more then the rears, but that is just me!
