I like your setup and especially the sub. Never heard of AV123 before. I threw the company on my list to take a look at though when I find a good time to upgrade.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my sub. It has really brought my whole system together for the HT experience. Tals: I'm using the eD eQ.2 for a sub EQ, but the sub itself is an AV123 sub (MFW-15).

Beautiful Set-Up Stimpson.
The ergonomic design of the front Boston Speakers are Beautiful. And I would be remis if I didnt mention the incredible ED Sub(I Love the 2 Band EQ for the ed sub)

Stimpson, that subs looks awesome! I had your set-up as a "9", but I changed it to a "10" since you added the AV123. Your set-up is killer, congrats!

From Ikea: The stand under the TV is the LEKSVIK storage/TV bench from IKEA. Also I have IKEA dioder LEDs behind the TV for ambient lighting. I don't have any pics with them on. Now that I have a DSLR I'll try to get some good shots at night w/ the screen & LEDs lit up.

New speakers since I first looked at this system - You deserve a new rating...10 it is

StimpsonJCat
 » Jun 18, 2009 02:23 PM

I don't have a recent picture of my surrounds (they are now E60s). But I agree the CR95s are too low (but they are also need to be moved up and out for a proper 5.1 setup. The E60s are higher, but still out of position. I will eventually mount them on the walls to the left & right of the couch, but it is a a big in-wall wiring project that hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for the comments!

I'm not sure if it's the speakers, the sub, or how clean everything looks, but your setup is absolutely breathtaking. 10/10 I'd recommend you raise your rear speakers, but I'm sure they sound so good it wouldn't make much of a difference!

Thanks for all the comments!

I'm very happy with the results of the riser/gramma combination. I highly recommend trying it since it is a fairly cheap tweak (especially if you build it yourself). You could always setup something temporary to test the sound before investing anything.

Gorgeous setup. I have major speaker envy going on here! When the kids are a little older, I'll go with something similar to what you've got.

Thanks for stopping by and rating my gallery, too.

I had the same box with Time Warner Cable and it was crap. But with the Verizon FIOS software it runs pretty smooth.

At lowes (not all of them) they have some build it yourself shelving (this one is 16" X 16" with 8" legs). I've seen people on other forums use it to build a component rack. I had two of these for my old surrounds and I just used one for this when I upgraded the speakers. You basically buy each piece seperate and put them together how ever you want (shelf, legs, feet, etc..). My current surrounds (not in the pics) is on a 16"X4' shelf made from the same stuff.

I haven't seen any ghosting. I've been really happy with the picture on the Sammy. I use the PS3 mainly for watching bds. I only have one game for it...Batman Lego (to play with my better half). I mostly play games on the 360 in the gameroom. Love Fallout 3.

I like your system and setup a lot! The room kind of reminds me of mine with the counter in the back, similar size also. I imagine that the rug is an important element in the sound of the room (beautiful floors!). Wonderful electronics and speakers. You've got it setup really really nice. Bravo!

About the location of the TV. I saw a picture of someone's setup with the TV mounted low before I moved into the house. At first it looked strange because I've always thought of TVs high up on stands, but it made sense that if it was low you don't have to look up. It really does make for comfortable movie watching and we have no regrets with the decision. I am glad the stand in front of it give some seperation so kids/pets can't easily get to it.

StimpsonJCat
 » Apr 13, 2009 03:44 PM

Yep, when you upgrade to a bigger TV it seems really huge at first, but after a while it actually doesn't seem nearly as big. It all depends on how far back you sit. We sit a good ways back from the 58" and I think it is a good size. I was really considering going with a Kuro, but I could only afford the 50". In the end I'm really glad I went with this one because a 50" would be too small from where we sit. Of course I'd love to get a front projection setup with a monster pull down screen. I would enjoy the process of getting use to that size screen!

58" TV....

Do you find though, (as I do with my 42" TV) that when you get used to the big TV, it seems small - or at least routine? When I feel that way I go and put a cinemascope movie on DVD on my 15" 4:3 CRT in the bedroom -- that reminds me what small really is!

Back to the point though: very nice set up.... i like that the TV is at eye level when you're sat down.
