Hi guys and gals ! I was asked to post pics here by a chap called aeliayousaf over on AVS, so cheers for that mate if you're reading ! What a great site this is ? So many killer setups.

I thought I'd add my little effort also so here it is. Taken a couple of years to get it where it is now, and I'm resisting from upgrading anymore until a dedicated room in a new place occurs. It's still a living room after all lol ! Hopefully I've managed to get a good balance (?), but feel well lucky to own the kit from the various manufacturers out there - hats of to ya chaps ! Anyway... enough crap...hope ya like !

The Kitchen

Just for WAFI's good wife ! Hiya ! This was finished as of January 2008 after a couple of months of designing and planning. We wanted something a bit unique so I came up with a couple of ideas like the wall of appliances, and the bespoke floating breakfast bar with the taps vertically mounted. I hadn't seen this tap idea anywhere before, so was sort of hoping it would be a 'design first' . This had been our most expensive project to date, coming in at just over £27k *gulp*, but definately worth every penny. It was a magazine article feature last year here in the UK, which I was happy doing, but the deal was that I didn't want to be in any pictures lol ! God forbid.

Anyways, hope you like and there's a couple more pics to see here:

Man I am at a loss for words! What a system! I would probably be at work thinking about what movie I was going to watch or what music I was going to listen to when I got home. Your systems are top notch, and you have a spectacular home. Nice!!!!!!

Well, that is it. I'm moving in! Perfection doesn't even begin to cover it. The only bad thing about it is I'm not living there.

What type of flooring did you use in the livingroom/kitchen?
We are doing a reno and I'm looking to change the hardwood to tile for a more minimalistic look.

Total opposite of my rustic theater - "The Lodge" - but very clean, consistent and well planned. Excellent photography as well. Nicely done. I'd be interested to see what you think of my theater, which went in a completely different direction.

opposite! You have truly set the bar for having the cleanest system/setup/room in exsistence! Cheers, my friend!

I don't know what to say. Absolutely amazing. You are truly living in a fantasy. My fantasy. If I had to find a fault I would say the sofa doesn't look very comfortable. Other than that, allow me to say you are my home theater hero.

P.S. What's your secret?

Hey Animo cheers mate ! The comments were justified and I wouldn't call it meagre !! Those speakers are a work of art, with truly beautiful looks. I still reckon you should put the design into production.

Once again, many thanks for the lovely comments and ratings gang. Very flattered, and makes it all seem totally worthwhile !

Duneaholic and BluBrown, cheers fellas ! Those merrymaids clean the place up a treat !

Canada - no reference to Zep I'm afraid mate. I don't even know the song lol !

Avecha thanks hun- what would your partner say !

NiubNiub - cheers matey. I only did the kitchen magazine article as a favour to the kitchen company to try and give 'em a bit of a boost. I'm not sure this place deserves an article, but maybe the next place will ? As long as I don't have to be in any pics lol
I'm sure your condo will turn out sweet as a nut !

Blackmind and Zedsdead - thanks for the lovely feedback guys !! It is a bit of a task trying to keep a living area just that ! Glad you think I've done ok with it all. Much appreciated y'all !

rkolinski cheers for that bro' ! The Sony Vaio VGX-TP2S/B we got when it first came out, and I'm sure it has been superceded by now ? It's an extremely reliable piece of kit, but the only problem I had was using it via HDMI with the 720p Bravia. None of the text was crisp, which was a bummer, and so use it via VGA instead and the quality is much much better.

I have tried it via HDMI on the 1080p X-series and it's as clean as a whistle though, so the graphics card must just not like the 1366 x 768 res of the bravia ? It does have a really fast boot up time compared to other desktops I've used so that's a bonus ! It looks lush too hehe.

Hope that helps ?

All the best
Jon

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the way you designed your home and all of the really cool tech gadgets throughout! Your place could easily fit in as a set piece on Caprica (the new BSG since I'm watching that on BLU) or in similar films like iRobot or Minority Report or any SCIFI film. Have you invited Architectural Digest to visit your place because I think it should be featured in that magazine? Too bad that ratings only go up to "10" because if they were up to "100," you would MAX out with that score too.

Rich

P.S. Do you own that round PC from Sony? Just curious because I was wondering if you've experienced any problems with it. I'm only asking because I've been looking @ that PC myself! [Feel free to private message me if you'd like if you don't want to post an answer here.] BTW, I spent over an hour just enjoying all of your photos as well as the ones on your personal photo site. AWESOME!!

The attention to detail is nothing short of stunning. If I could get my wife to help keep our place half as clean as yours, I would be a happy man. Congrats on having a setup flirting with absolute perfection.

blackmind
 » Sep 19, 2009 09:16 AM

Simply the best I have ever seen! I too have tried to maintain the balance between the technology and a live-able space. However, you have managed to take that concept to a another level. If I where single I think I would be trying to duplicate your setup; unfortunately, my wife would make me spend the countless hours it must take to make the condo look that immaculate. Great, spectacular, and any other words that can describe awesomeness.

Cheers again guys !!

David2189....erm ......no !

Sean howdy ! The camera is a Nikon D40X, which is nigh on entry level really. The Wide angle pics were taken using a Sigma 10-20mm HSM lens, and the rest were using either the kit 18-55mm non-VR lens, or the Nikkor 50mm f1.8. The D40X has no inbuilt autofocus motor, so you'd either need a lens with a motor such as the Sigma or kit lenses, or manually focus like I have to with the Nikkor 50mm.

Hope that helps mate.

Peas out.
