Metal Stereo Cabinets Provide Natural
Cooling By Heat Dissipation and Convection

Unlike wood cabinets that actually insulate your AV equipment, Can-Am metal cabinets absorb the heat from your equipment and radiate it away. They don't call Can-Am cabinets cool for nothing! Our flip doors slide out of the way so you can operate your electronics with the doors open, which allows the heated air to rise naturally and escape. Convection replaces the warm air with fresh cool air.

Speakers

Uploaded Mar 10, 2012 16:43:43
Speakers
I run a 7.0 speaker configuration, consisting of
Definitive Technology speakers( BP2006 x 2, C/L/R 2300, BP2X x 2, BP1.2X x 2 ). The 3 front channels are set to large, while the 4 rear channels are set to small. I just use speaker wire for hook-up & no LFE cables on the 3 front channels. The L & R channels, have one 8" side firing powered( 250W ) driver each, which are firing away from the gear cabinet, instead of into it. The Center channel has a 8" top firing powered( 150W ) driver. The Center channel rest on a stack of Auralex SpeakerDudes HD, to raise/angle it & prevent vibration transfer to the gear cabinet.

I purchased them back in 2000, after reading the review below & demoing them.

Power Conditioner( Commercial-Grade! )

Power Conditioner( Commercial-Grade! )
I picked this up back in 2007, when I was rebuilding my living room system. It replaced a huge Monster Power floor strip.
All gear is plugged into this, except my amp. The four high current Power Factor outlets are being used by the receiver & the three front channel built-in subs.

" The essence of the Elite-20 PF i is Furman's unique Power Factor Technology. For the first time, low-level analog, digital, and video components are not modulated or distorted by the power amplifier's extreme AC current demands. Further, the power amplifier is fed a highly filtered, extremely low-impedance supply of AC power. The Elite-20 PF i, in fact, has in excess of 4 Amps of continuous current reserve (over 55 amps peak charge) for the most extreme peak power demands. This technology enables power amplifiers and powered subwoofers to operate at maximum efficiency, reaching levels of performance previously unattainable.

No longer will your amplifier's performance be at the mercy of your home's incoming AC power or inferior AC protection/filtering devices. The net effect is as if your power amplifier virtually doubled in power and improved immeasurably in quality. "

The video( 1080i ) & audio( DD5.1 @ 640kbps & DTS5.1 @ 1.5Mbps ), were both improvements over what
DVD offered( video-480i, audio-DD5.1 @ 448Kbps & DTS5.1 @ 754Kbps ).
Prior to HD-DVD & Blu-ray, DVHS was the only way to get prerecorded HD( D-Theater ).
Prior to HD DVRs, it was the only way to record HD material from cable, satellite or OTA. DVHS never went
mainstream, because of high hardware/media cost, plus being a tape based format didn't help.

Game switcher & DVD player

Game switcher & DVD player
I use the game switcher for legacy gaming systems( PS one, N64, PS2, Gamecube, Wii & Xbox. The A/V cables from the game switcher are located on the rear of the right side cabinet. I just put the game console up above on the cabinet top, run the A/V cable to it, then run the power cord to the front power outlet on the Furman.

I purchased Oppo's last DVD player prior to owning a Blu-ray player. I use it for CD & DVD playback.

Built like a TANK, weighs 15lbs & was made in Japan. Best VCR I've ever owned. I just use it for playback anymore.

" Headphones are the least expensive way to listen to high quality music reproduction from your musical sound source. You would probably have to spend five to six times as much money on speakers to get close to the equivalent quality of sound you hear through headphones. "
