I run a 7.0 speaker configuration, consisting of
Definitive Technology speakers( BP2006 x 2, C/L/R 2300, BP2X x 2, BP1.2X x 2 ). The 3 front channels are set to large, while the 4 rear channels are set to small. I just use speaker wire for hook-up & no LFE cables on the 3 front channels. The L & R channels, have one 8" side firing powered( 250W ) driver each, which are firing away from the gear cabinet, instead of into it. The Center channel has a 8" top firing powered( 150W ) driver. The Center channel rest on a stack of Auralex SpeakerDudes HD, to raise/angle it & prevent vibration transfer to the gear cabinet.

I picked this up back in 2007, when I was rebuilding my living room system. It replaced a huge Monster Power floor strip.
All gear is plugged into this, except my amp. The four high current Power Factor outlets are being used by the receiver & the three front channel built-in subs.

The video( 1080i ) & audio( DD5.1 @ 640kbps & DTS5.1 @ 1.5Mbps ), were both improvements over what
DVD offered( video-480i, audio-DD5.1 @ 448Kbps & DTS5.1 @ 754Kbps ).
Prior to HD-DVD & Blu-ray, DVHS was the only way to get prerecorded HD( D-Theater ).
Prior to HD DVRs, it was the only way to record HD material from cable, satellite or OTA. DVHS never went
mainstream, because of high hardware/media cost, plus being a tape based format didn't help.

I use the game switcher for legacy gaming systems( PS one, N64, PS2, Gamecube, Wii & Xbox. The A/V cables from the game switcher are located on the rear of the right side cabinet. I just put the game console up above on the cabinet top, run the A/V cable to it, then run the power cord to the front power outlet on the Furman.

I purchased Oppo's last DVD player prior to owning a Blu-ray player. I use it for CD & DVD playback.

Built like a TANK, weighs 15lbs & was made in Japan. Best VCR I've ever owned. I just use it for playback anymore.

Hi Zippo, Thanks for stopping by my gallery recently. Just checked out your setup and it was very interesting. I especially liked the storage under the futon for all your accessories, etc. I, too, have a queen sized futon with a microfiber cover. I thought that was cool to see someone else with the same type furniture. I noticed that you have a iMac (looks like a 21"), I have a 24" upstairs that pairs with my audio system. I like the Grado RS1's, wanted a pair but thought the price tag was too steep so I went with the 325is. Also, you asked about my flat panel's brand and dimensions. Guess what, it's a Panasonic like yours (I see we share similar tastes in a FEW things). It is the 2013 65VT60 model. Its my first plasma (moved from a Samsung LED-8500), so I'm not sure what to expect. The reviews on this one has been outstanding...they are calling it the first true Kuro challenger! Hello again ZIP. I dig the equipment breakdown and synopsis. That Sony S-VHS was a beast back in the day. I had a SLV-750. Not an SVHS, but it was built to the nines also. Hey ZIPPO. I just wanted to again comment on your insanely awesome setup and room. Your room is so well configured and designed. You've given me a lot of ideas to spruce up my boring cave. Tonight, I'm headed behind the rack to attempt to clean it up a little more. I also want to make the power cords extending from the rack to disappear. I'm sure I'll be at it all night. I do have a question regarding the configuration. When you were mapping out how you would position the devices, how did you come up with game plan? In other words, did you already what you were going to do or was it more of a play it by ear type of arrangement? The reason I ask, I know when I switched stands for my equipment, I had to really consider device dimensions, weight parameters (something I know you are familiar with adequate ventilation, and overall aesthetics.
