I am absolutely not a fan of red for walls as a blanket statement/general rule, but you've got me rethinking things! This place is awesome, and I LOVE the red here! I wouldn't change a thing...solid 10/10 from me.

I'm planning my new HT room now, and I love the rear audio tower. You either have to run a long hdmi to the projector or long runs to the speakers. I bet those wall shelves and cases serve as acoustic treatments as well! When you eventually sell the place, the new owners will either be loving the wiring, or clueless to what it's all for.

Wow, what a great setup. I love how the viewer gets "introduced" to the theater by going down the stairs and seeing the movie posters and wall plaques. Great color choice for the walls and nice clean install (love the completely wall-mounted speaker connections!) If you have one of those zero lot line townhouses that shares walls, your neighbors must hate you!

As perfect as can be. When a setup is so well thought out and designed, there is not alot you can say. The wall mounte cable connections, the clean install, the great rack, comfy seats. This is pretty perfect. As far as the Redskins go you could be worse. You could be a Jets fan like me.

Darwin - theater looks GREAT - right along the lines of what I want to do with my basement development. Thanks for the link to the signs/framing ideas you posted, they look awesome.

One question though; are all your speakers wired in wall? I only see Front L/R/Center + three surrounds?

a859057, yes...the website i linked only allows you to download the images. The wall signs are not acrylic or aluminum...they are actually printed from high quality gloss photopaper and i used cheap frames from wally world. They are mounted in a location where people cant see the details so i'm satisfied with just print outs

a859057
 » Dec 23, 2008 02:05 PM

Great theater - love the design. I have a follow-up question regarding the signs - looks like all you get from the website is downloadable pictures. How dio you get those pictures turned into aluminum signs? Are are yours not made of aluminum?

Absolutely stunning.Donīt know what to say,Iīm just so impressed.

Thanks again, everyone!

DUST, the blackout curtains are covering a sliding door and a window. Unfortunately, my basement is not fully encosed. Better for resale value I gues...

VERY nice setup! Love the color scheme. One question, what are the curtains hiding?

 » Dec 20, 2008 02:17 PM

A beautiful Home Theater! Love the bold wall color (red w/ white trim). Top notch wiring job and Front Projection is the king of HT. Sony FP units are very,
very good! You're a true connoisseur, sir.

 » Dec 18, 2008 09:13 PM

Darwin, where did you get the white dvd shelves? Those are sweet! As is your whole setup of course..

darwin316
 » Dec 18, 2008 07:36 PM

grizzlybrett13, I provided both HDMI and components when I was wiring the projector because I needed 4 HDMI inputs but my receiver only has 3. I initially had a PS3, 360, hd dvd, and dvr before...but with only 3 components now (xbox went to the living room), I'm only using the hdmi connection to the projector.

To be honest, the remodel didn't cost that much...compared to the more awesome setups here...less than $9000. I completed the project over a month, but it could have been finished in two weeks. I just got aggravated a lot when I was fishing the wires that I gave up working on the basement some nights

As for the loveseat idea, I did thought about it for the rear seats in this order |O|OO|O| but I didnt have the space for it. I had already purchased the fronts before the remodel.

...and thanks for the compliment!

grizzlybrett13
 » Dec 18, 2008 03:26 PM

One question...why are you using component video? Does the A/V receiver not have HDMI switching? Other than that this would be my dream room for games, movies and tv.

The only thing I would do different would be to have a couch for a snuggle with someone but I'm guessing it would never make it down the stairs :-/ Your movie collections are also awesome and wow on the HD selection. The layout is so clean and no cables in sight :-D

I'm glad I waited till the format war was over before buying a HD disc player (go Blu-ray).

How long did all of this take and what was the approximate budget blown on this room?

Keep up the great work, as this is a work of art :-D
