This is from the MLS listing...forgot to take a good pic of the room before we moved in. Anyway, there's 70's stucco all over all the walls...actually a light lavender colour. Two layers of really cheap berber carpet. Those shelves beside the fireplace were hell to get out...very solid indeed.

Shoddy DIY window frame job...see the close up of the nasty stucco? Blech! Started trying to just scrape the stucco away but it was proving to be painful. Ripped a hole in the drywall to see what was behind it...no insulation at all even though this is a foundation wall, no wonder there was a fireplace.

Yep, 1/2" studding, no moisture barrier, no insulation. Decided to rip the whole wall down.

Similar stucco on the inside wall...so it came down too! This was great because I was able to run all the wires through the wall, 12AWG Monoprice.

Took a long time to get to this point believe it or not...but doing it with friends was WAY cheaper than paying for it.

This went all around the foundation outer wall as well, then moisture barrier. The room is really nice and warm now.

Drywall going up, Roxall sound insulation all throughout the interior wall and in the ceiling also. Huge difference in echo.

Walls painted with Benjamin Moore Aura flat...really good strong paint and it SUCKS the light right out of the room which is great for an HT room. All sockets cut out, carpet installed...nice thick berber with 10mm padding. HUGE difference in this room from the original...much stress relieved for both my wife and I who felt the original room was hideous.

Okay...still have to put wall decorations up and get a TV...but looks like the TV will come next year with the 2011 Viera's...so for now that's all the pics I'm putting up.
This rack is from VTI...very nice rack and weighs just over 100lbs without anything on it...look at the clearance over the Onkyo TX-SR805. The Goldring GR-2 turntable on top is very solid...what a difference over my previous room.

Thanks, it rattles the walls in other areas of the house but with all that insulation this room is dead quiet, thankfully. Vibrations would drive me nuts. It can certainly rattle your chest!

Very nice setup..I have the pretty much the exact same AV rack from VTI...solid gear. Man that Servo sub must really rattle the walls.

Not really price, it's a good quality carpet but I just wanted one with durability as we just started our family a couple years ago so I know the kids will be enjoying that room more as they get older.

Nice job lookin great. I came across the same problem when doing my basement HT, just found it best to tear all down and start over. Nice gear by the way. I give you a 10 if I could.

Thanks Star, I do need to put up some pics since the room was finished, but haven't made any changes since adding the plasma (TC-P42S2) last May. Having a baby and a brand new mortgage has slowed me down drastically. Hoping in 2012 to upgrade to a 55"+ plasma and perhaps a groovetracer platter/subplatter for the Goldring TT.

Looking great. I'm in the process of remodeling my house too and after we finished one of the bedrooms we got the idea of a home theater, so we ripped it all apart again and did all the in-wall wiring. it's so much more worth it when you do it yourself.
