I built this room from planning stage to completion in about 6 months with most of the work being done in a 3 week period near the end. As I have made changes I moved older pictures into the "Previous Setup" gallery (but not all). Comments are welcome!

The room is approximately 24 x 23 feet with vaulted ceilings and approximately 150 12"x12" sound proofing panels and additional corner base traps to minimize perpendicular surfaces and distortion.

In the dark!

There are about 150 1x1 ft soundproofing panels in the room that I mounted one at a time (that took awhile!).

Bought 2 of these to replace my current audio rack. I want to get the receiver off the floor and into the rack, and I also want to move the laserdisc player to a lower shelf. Hopefully this will give me the space I need. I will post pics once I have it all set up.

New racks setup. Removed the old taller one and now I have 10 shelves to play with! I like this setup much better.

I guess you could call this the "old" rack. VHS, tape, laserdisc.....

1900x1200 shot for a good computer wallpaper.

Installed 12 feet of base traps under the screen. I wanted to block out the white color of the baseboard and at the same time improve the acoustics of the room. Tried to kill two birds with one stone,... I think it turned out fairly well.

Betaman- What I do is I have 4 bean bag chairs for when people (including my fiancée) want to join. When I first started talking about building this room, it was made clear that this would be "my" room and it was built with the goal of having one primary listening location with minimal furnishing to optimize sound quality. Essentially that means I did not want some big couch between me and the speakers... It worked out well, and when I am having a nice listening session, it's mostly me, that one chair, and 500 sq ft of "space",.... just the way I like it.

ldgibson76- Thanks for the comments! I looked at the pages you suggested. I am actually considering Lovan M2 center speaker stand (http://www.audio-video-furniture.com/Lovan-Millennium-M2-Center-Channel-Speaker-Stand.htm) as it looks decent and it is fully adjustable so I can angle the speaker exactly where I would want it. I'm actually surprised that there are not a huge amount of choices when it comes to adjustable center speaker stands. I definitely will work on this! mangosta, gabepun, Miketr75, VictorQ, joe77, trdtac, RFTECH , Johnny Blaze... and everybody else, thanks for all the great comments! Bullruckle- Just got done watching DragonHeart on laserdisc. Great music.

Hello invenio. First off,.... Phenomenal configuration! 2 channel first, everything else is gravy! Your Polk Audio speakers are more than adequate for movie soundtracks. Like you acknowledged, movie soundtracks are not as detailed as 2 channel audio so having esoteric speakers isn't really necessary for surround sound. The ML/CJ combo is just downright audacious! Superb combo and excellent taste. The sound quality must be amazing. As far as the center channel stand is concerned, may I suggest a stand from VTI (http://www.audio-video-furniture.com/VTI-BL404-01-Audio-Rack-Amp-Stand.htm) and then center channel angled isolation foam platforms from Auralex. (http://www.auralex.com/sound_isolation_mopad/sound_isolation_mopad.asp) The isolation pads are angled upward or downward depending on positioning and would allow the center channel's signal to be projected to ear level. When I look at your room and setup, the first thing I think of is the lab in the movie "Sorcerer's Apprentice". Not a bad thing mind you. Your room looks like the lair/audio lab of a mad audio scientist! No doubt,.... All business! It's all about the 2 channel!

I like the CJ amp.............The pj is an excellent choice and I love the see thru case. The Xonar sound card sending an analog signal to the CJ preamp must sound great on the ML's. I am impressed!!! Excellent room!

Mpray1983- I haven't had any sound issues. I think since the room size is substantial and I sit more than 10 feet away from the speaker there is enough diffusion. I am looking for a small speaker stand for this but I'm very picky in that I don't want it to be more than 6-12 inches off the floor and I want it to match the room as well. When I find something I will post pictures.

yeah, I use a Vizio sound-bar, RCA from my mac and optical through the tv from hte ps3 via hdmi, and for the size of the room i use it in, it emulates a pretty good surround sound experience. p.s. i love the super victorian looking chair in the middle of your THEATER. setup looks awesome.

-Vanorge, Thanks for the comments. I am looking for a nice center channel speaker stand but I want a very low one, maybe 6-9 inches only. Also, I have had difficulty finding one that fits the look of the room well and look well with the center speaker itself. The debate about the chair... wow,... this could go on for a while as this is the biggest sticking point between me and my significant other. As this was supposed to be a "listening room" first, I preferred to have 1 comfy chair to enjoy my music to when listening on my stereo setup. Of course, it's a "movie room" as well in which case more seats would be preferable. I can't line up too many seats as the Martin Logans then start getting in the frame, so that also a limitation. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet... maybe just buy some movie seats,... maybe get some really comfy bean bag chairs for guests that I can take in and out.... we'll see. I welcome all ideas though!
