Purpose built room fully soundproofed and light controlled for total dark conditions when watching movies day or night.

The walls have a layer of Rockwool inbetween the outer brick and inside brick,also an acoustic plasterboard was used on all the walls,which have a wooden frame underneith the plasterboard with more layers of Rockwool.

Cinema room size is 9.0 ft wide by 15 ft long (the screen and cabinet up front have 3 ft of space/ so in total the room is 18 ft long) this was to hide all the wires for the front speakers to the reciever etc,and to run the Hdmi from the Blu-ray player to the projector,all the wires for the four surround speakers were run from the front to the rear behind the walls.

Front of house is the Projecta 110 inch screen that fills the entire wall above the cabinet,there is a three foot gap behind the screen for easy access to all the cables.

The cabinet was homemade and has four doors,the two end doors both have tinted glass fronts for remote control opperation and power supplies,the far right cupboard is for any future expansions.I had to incorporate a Blu-eye remote blaster system recently as the New Pioneer Blu-ray player i bought remote's sensor was out of sight through the cabinets glass door.The unit also houses my Jamo front and center speakers.

This is the view from my seat to the screen,and is one and a half times the screen distance away from my seating position.
Note the one and a half times the screen measurment is taken horizontally.

I bought these signs of E-bay they come as a double sided set with the lossless Hd audio formats on one side and the lossy formats on the rear,i then framed them and mounted then verticaly on the door.

These signs look very nice and are pretty good value too.

Futronix p50 four scene dimmer switch and normal brushed steel lightswitch,the Futronix operates the wall lights and the normal switch works the spotlights.

The rear surround is provided by four Jamo D6 Thx ultra dipole speakers.

The Jamo surrounds with their covers off,the Jamo's produce a very good rear surround field and have made me jump out of my seat on many occasions !!!

The hushbox was built and installed by my father with a little help or as he put it hinderance from me,it has easy access for lens cleaning and the projectors zoom and focus controls.

The inside is coated with a two inch thick high quality sound absorbing foam and has two vents cut into the ceiling for the fan heat to covect into the roof space,it takes the Infocus fan noise from a distracting 33 db to a whisper quiet 15 db top job dad !!!!

The cupboard above the mini bar holds my projector and climate control remotes,and of course some more blu-ray discs.

The fridge uses absorbtion techonology,so it has no compressor and runs totaly silent.

Hasbro force fx lightsabers,Luke Skywalker's and Darth Vader's from the "empire strikes back" great for reenacting the classic lightsaber battle if you wish (not that i would ever do anything so childish of course) joke !!!

Homemade Dark knight posters A4 size.

I was wondering what to do with the two spare cupboards in my unit.

I bought two candy containers and made two draw type runners,I then fixed them to the cupboard base to keep the containers in place.

I then bought four little battery operated l.e.d lights and stuck them above the containers for a nice lighting effect.

The Daikin climate control air conditioning runs at a wisper quiet 22 db,and has a sensor for when people enter or leave the room.

The magazine has arrived and in on the livingroom table,a fellow Blu-ray.com member "Jayo" received the magazine before me and posted a comment yesterday.

This is "Home cinema choice" it's the best home theater magazine in the U.K and has been around since laserdisc,it has a monthly section for professional and amateur A/V installs.

I had been trying to get in the magazine ever since I finished work on my home theater,and I was contacted three months ago by the magazine and told my theater was going to be featured.

When I take my screen down I can access all my cables,I also plan to put some more acoustic plaster board on the walls.

My new screen research projection screen uses a solid pix 0.9 material.

It's always sad when you are replacing old equipment that has served you well,but I am sure I will get over it once the new screen is in place

Wow it may not be as fancy as some of those uber expensive home theaters but your setup is definitely my favourite of the lot!!! I love how cosy it feels! incredible! this is even more than something i would have fathomed trying to acheive. i mean the building/equipment and layout alone, but all the extra touches: the cubboards, the air conditioning, and the decision to put all the snacks and sweets, amazing! aha.. i hope you put some good home security around it! i would fear for you taht if too many people know whats in that thing, it could get burgled? keep it safe! *****

@jonmoz I remember a few months ago, I had happened upon blu-ray.com searching for ideas for HT designs. I specifically remember you setup and let my wife take a look at your dedicated HT. I told her that when we move to the US, this is exactly what I wanted to do, to have a separate structure behind our house to have a dedicated cinema. My own private "hiding place". Unbelievable setup bro! If I had an HT like yours, I may lock myself in their for a day, kick back, and have a movie marathon......every weekend with friends & family! By the way, you have a beautiful daughter & am sure she will enjoy the movie cinema you have provided for her in the near future! Thanks also for rating my humble HT gallery and your kind words! John, I assume that is you in the picture. This is a great theatre and a superb use of the space. My theatre is on the lower level (finished basement). I definetly give it a 4.5 of 5 mark. The only thing I noticed next to the adorable baby was too many remotes and I did not see true theatre seating. I would invest (and I do not use this term lightly) into a Universal Remote that can control anything and everything. I call this making it wife/fiancee/mother-in-law proof. Since I travel a lot they all can use it with no problems. Also, I assume you are in the UK because of the pounds comment:-))) I may have missed it but I did not notice any seating instead a couch. If that is part of the experience you wish to create then that is great. I also could not see if you had multiple rows and if the second row was elevated. Can you send those pictures. that would be great to see how you dealt with this. Overall, a fantastic room. I was hesitant to ad posters to my room so I have now opted for custom acoustic panels, which will be installed early next year. My sound is great now but my designed said it can be even greater :-)) with that panels. How this is what you were looking for from me. Enjoy!!! I think I will look into that magazine-never heard of it but it looks really cool...
