Upgraded surround speakers. Although originally my set up was 6.2 I�ve sacrificed the back surround speaker, but increased quality, now is 5.2 but with great sound quality!

No crossover, only a capacitor!!!!!!!

My Sony speakers had no crossover, no surprise there, only a small capacitor that serves as a filter to prevent low frequencies from reaching the tweeter, after reading a lot about crossovers, I started my first project to improve the quality of my speakers, no is that I can not buy a set of first class speakers, the way I chose to get a good sound quality is longer but more rewarding from my perspective.

After installing the crossovers in the main and surround speakers, I did a calibration of the levels in the receiver, then I did three sessions of listening, three hours each to make some corrections, in the first one, I heard my favorites CDs in stereo mode to test the sound image of the front speakers, I was stunned, the improved mid-range was amazing, I loved the clarity of the voices, was the first thing that surprised me, but later I notice another big improvement, the clean high frequencies and tight bass when I focused my attention on the instruments; the second session was a lot of movies with surround sound such as Master and Commander, I loved it! substantially increased the detail and accuracy; and finally my favorite concerts in BDs, the result was something like the CDs with the addition of surround sound of a crowd of fans screaming and singing in my living room! Well, anyway, I really enjoyed tweaking my HT

I think is fair to say that the loudspeaker behaves totally diferent now, the improvement in the performance was in the entire audible spectrum, "intelligible" is the word that better describe their performance.

Your 10 comes from your modification efforts and your DIY cables (I've done the same thing with CAT 5 - just on the rear speakers). Tell me some more info on your crossover modification (what prompted you to do it and did you do any internal bracing on your Sony speaker enclosures as well).
