This is where I keep the rare/favourite dvds of mine. There are quite a few steelbooks and definitive editions that are housed here, as well as collector's editions and most of the marvel movies in my collection. When buying a dvd - I always try to get a collector's edition or a 2 disc version - there are a few of those here as well:

These were the 1st steelbook dvds that i started collecting. Definitive editions are also available in a slip-cover edition, but they are'nt as impressive as the steelbooks! After clearing out the drawer that sits below my LCD, I've decided to store some dvds and my PS2 and new PS3 game collection here. i was running out of place to keep stuff (as you could tell from pics of my room!), so i decuded to box up what ever was in here that i wanted to keep, and move all my newer stuff here. As I am new to the PS3 family - the number of games I have is not too high (however the fact that i already have 6, 3 of which are collector's editions, aint too bad!). I am, however, a fan of collectors editions - be it DVDs, Blurays, Action Figures, and now, Playstation! I had seen the Helghast Edition of Killzone a while back - and even though it was pretty impressive - the price was equally impressive, retailing here on release for almost 1500 Rands! While doing my rounds online, I discovered that a national game store had it on sale for 400 Rands, so after recebtly getting the PS3, I said why the hell not! It was a mission, as the store that was supposed to hold my copy initially - sold it on saturday, but after some strongly worded telephone calls, they managed to source one for me at a branch of theirs closer to work, so I picked it up on my way home yesterday... Quite an interesting and unique packaging design. I've noticed athat recently, all the effort in collector's editions are going into the gaming titles - we dont seem to get anything too spectacular over here in DVD or Bluray, aside from the occasional steelbook. Finally - the 1st sight of the contents! I opened this with my mom nearby - she was wondering why the heck i bought another PS3 after just gettiing one! The box is massive - i think actually bigger than the box the PS3 came in... anyways, glad that the gaming gods are giving us value for money when putting together these packages! The Helghast Helmet Replica - A well put together display piece, and relly something that needs alot of explanation to someone thats not familiar with the game. I would have liked it to be a little heavier, maybe putting on a thicker base - but its a pretty good bust, just need to find the perfect place to display this that wont scare small children and elders! I was surprised when i discovered that the version of the game included was the steelbook edition - my 1st PS3 steelbook! The hardcover booklet is also very well put together - havent gone through it in more detail yet, but from what i've seen when i flipped trough it - very detailed and alot of good artwork to gaze at! I picked this up on sale - pretty decent package: A couple mini-figures, a DVD with an exclusive Street Fighter movie, and a little book of tricks and moves for the different characters, as well as the game itself. I don't know when I'm gonna get around to actually playing this game - I've got 8 PS3 games so far (4 of which are Collectors editions), and i'm only almost through GT5! Picked up a few good DVDS on sale, as well as an R2D2 and C3PO collectable keychain. There are 4 more in the same range - Obi Wan, Padme, Quai Gon and Darth Maul - I'll probably get the 4-pack later down the line. They're pretty cool as th jedi coem with detachable light sabers. Funny story: I popped in to a DVD store and was surprised to see they already had the Prometheus bluray out - both 2D and 3D versions - the 3D was marked for R300 and the 2D was R200.... however, there was one that was marked for R150.... so immediately I took it! The price, however, was an emplyoyee fault - so to save the employee from disciplinary action - i agreed to pay the proper amount - provided they gave me one of the Avengers posters - that were only given out upon the purchase of an Avengers DVD.... I really wanted the poster - but i already had Avengers on bluray, and I wasnt gonna spend money to buy a DVD just for the poster! My modest bluray collection.... This title has so many different versions out here - 2 disc bluray (already ordered online), 5 Disc bluray trilogy with Artbook, single disc DVD, 2 disc DVD, 5 disc DVD trilogy boxset with Artbook and lenticular cover.... what to do?!!!! I got this for the figure and waiting for the bluray to arrive... I'd like to get the artbook thats in the boxset - but i'll just wait for the DVD version to get cheaper and grab that, as I alread have collectors editions of Dark Knight and Batman Begins. I'm also having space issues - resulting in most of my collectables being stored in crates or kept in my bedroom. I have a spare room that I'm gonna be turning into my collection room - but that needs a lot of work and probably take some time to put together.
