This is our Home Theater/Living Room Area. We live in a town home apartment complex so we had to do with what space we have. We're proud of what we did though. The key was to make the area look cool like a home theater but also compromise with my wife in making it a living room area also. It's the first thing you see when you open the door so we had to make an impression.

This is what you see head on when you walk through the front door. Decorating is a big part of our home. There was a lot of compromising between the wife and I of what we could decorate our space with, but I think in the end we balanced it out pretty well. You can see the new Outlaw LFM-1 Plus subwoofer at the far end of the couch. That baby pumps out some serious LFE!!

Over time we've added more movie memorabilia to the decor. Fortunately my wife has gotten more into the hobby with me. So not only am I collecting, she is also. It's helped out a lot when I want to add a piece to the decor. You can see the Right Polk speaker and our brand chair and a half. My wife finally got rid of the papasan chair. I can't blame her though. The new chair and a half is really comfortable. You can also see our cool swag lamp hanging from the ceiling and some of our decor.

Speakers are Polk Audio Monitor 60's on the left and right and the CS2 for our center channel. I made the center speaker riser which I talk about more a little later. On the left of the center speaker is the XBOX 360 S with the Kinect sitting on top of the tv. On the right is the Now Showing DVD marquee. On the second shelf starting from the left is the Oppo 83 Blu-ray player and on the right is the Comcast HD DVR. To the far right is the cradle for our Harmony 720 remote. Having one remote to control everything is awesome. On the third shelf, on the left is the APC H15 Power Conditioner which I must say did wonders for our equipment and saved us from brown outs and power loss 4 times in the first day!!!! On the right is probably my favorite piece of equipment, besides the TV of course. The Marantz SR5003. It has such a smooth sound and really has changed our Home Theater experience. We really had no idea what our Polks could do until we got this receiver. The newest edition we did was putting shelves on either side of the Kuro to hold some of out Steelbook and Ironpack collection. I'm wanting them to hold only the Disney classics that are released. But for now I'm displaying other Disney steels - ironpacks as well.

This is a close up of the center speaker riser I made. I used the largest couplings I could find and glued them to railing toppers. I spray painted them with a matte brown then used pieces of arts and crafts foam board, the soft kind not the stiff kind, and added them to the top and bottom to decrease vibration. I'm very pleased with them.

The Marantz SR5003 in all it's glory. It's a totally different world when you finally hear clear HD audio.

Oppo BDP-83 Blu-pray player. It's a thing of beauty. We never knew how good our Pioneer Kuro could look until we got this thing. It replace our Panasonic BDP-55 which eventually stopped reading most our blu-ray's after a year and a half. We had problems with the machine a couple of months after we got it. Sent it in for repairs and exactly a year later started doing the same thing. Sent it in to square Trade got a refund for it and bought the Oppo 83. It's really fast and easy to use. I use source direct to the Kuro and the Kuro does all the processing. What a beautiful picture it produces.

APC H15 Power conditioner. Made a huge difference with the picture on our tv. I know that sounds crazy but even my wife noticed the difference. Living in a townhouse apartment complex there are power surges and brownouts all the time. This has kept our equipment safe.

Close up of the X-BOX 360 S. This machine is much cooler then the last version of the XBOX 360. Mine finally died for the second time after getting the dreaded "rings of death".

A friend and I installed the surrounds and back but the only way to get the backs to point down to our ear level was to build a riser that came off the wall and on the end of it angled down. Then we connected the speaker wall mounts to that to get the speaker to point directly at the listener.

Shot of new rug and you can see the sub is now over by the couch. After discussing it with Big Daddy I did the subwoofer crawl and found the near the couch in that spot was the best placement for the subwoofer. I had it facing the opposite wall at first but after testing it found that there was a much better bass response having it pointing towards the wall where the tv is. I also added coupling with padding added to both end that act as risers which raise the subwoofer off the ground a few inches. I'll make a real riser when I get a new sub.

My new sub! The Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus. I'm still breaking it in and haven;t had a chance to really push it. But so far it sounds fantastic. I'll be writing a review once I've had more time to play with it. Also I built the riser underneath.

A closer look at the sub riser I built. It's 4 tiers alternating from 24" x 18 piece to a 22" x 14 piece. It gives it a floating like effect. I stained the two larger pieces red mahogany and left the other smaller pieces unstained as well as the legs.

The next two shelves are really my wife's collection. Ya, you heard it, my WIFE's collection. Isn't that the coolest. You have the Harry Potter Book series and on the left the Dementor Crystlas Ball and on the right the Harry Potter Trunk Blu-ray packaging for the the first five movies. That one is both of ours.

The third shelf is her Twilight series collection. I'm not into it but she loves the series. In front of the book marks based on the DaVinic Code. My wife got me those for Christmas.

The Fourth Shelf down is dedicated to our favorite authors Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti.

The last shelf is where I keep my XBOX 360 games and my Media Book which you can see and read about in more detail further down.

I have been working on this book for about four months. I got the idea from a couple of other bluray.com users and decided I wanted to do a little more with it. I decided to do 9 genre sections and placed each movie into each genre that it fit it. Doing it that way took forever, but in the end it was well worth it.

I deigned the cover myself using the covers of movies and Photoshop. As you can see I decided to call it Now Playing, You Ticket To The Movies.

After I finished everything my wife asked me if I would add a Holiday section for the movies that she stores away and only brings out for the holidays.

I don't usually post the unpacking of any new equipment, but with our new Oppo blu-ray player, I'm making an exception.

This baby has some of the best packaging I've seen! Next to my Kuro and Mojave Microphone, Oppo has gone above and beyond. Two inches of foam alongside side a nice container that holds the HDMI cable, a really nice one by the way, and other component cable. it also came with two blu-ray calibration video and audio discs. Very impressive!

To top it off they added the Oppo bag that held the player which protected it from scratches. A very nice touch. Just from the packaging alone it I feel like our dollars really went towards something great.

ak ka, Thanks! That was the goal. The Outlaw sub is awesome. I couldn't recommend it more. It's a very smooth sounding bass and worth the money. If you can one then i suggest you do. Hey thor! Sorry for the month delay. thanks for the comment. We got that Memorabilia case from IKEA. It's the Billy Bookcase with a glass door and shelves. I picked up the lights from Lowes. My wife was just in Portland and was able to go to an IKEA and picked me up some more of their lights and now I'm one of the pair that she got on the tier bookcase up against the wall. i need to take some new pics but haven't been able to get around to doing it. Got some new memorabilia as well.

What an achievement!! I live in an apartment as well, and can truly appreciate what you managed to do here. Feels like a dedicated theater room. And you have amazing gear to top it off. How's the Outlaw sub? I got fabulous recommendations for it while shopping for mine, but it was a bit out of budget for me.

Very cool home theater set up. I like everything about it. From the huge blu ray collection, to the movie memorabilia, and your framed posters are all amazing. Plus your TV/Audio/Speaker set up is pretty awesome too. Also thank you for your nice comment on my collection!

Really nice! I like how you really took the time to see how the colors and items would match next to each other, whereas other people would just fill the room with equipment you have made a nice balance between home theater and living space, very classy. 5 out of 5
