The HT with the Axiom flavor upgrades for 2010! (25 photos)Axiom V3 Flagship Speakers now rule the Solarrdadd Roost!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:07:40
I have finally gotten around to editing my newly updated gallery; sorry to all about the wait! I have upgraded 5 of my 7 speakers to Axiom speakers and I have never been happier! I went with their new V3 line to include (pictured) the M80v3 towers, the VP180v3 center and a pair of (not pictured) QS8v3 side surrounds. the front 3 are all bi-wired with Calabrine 10awg bi-wire speaker cables. Hey look ma, no speaker grill holes, all of the V3 speakers have magnetic grill covers; now that's a real nice touch and a smooth look! I am a proud Axiom owner, I highly recommend them to anyone looking for beauty and grace of look and beast of power handling capability! Thus far, I have never heard better sounding speakers either in my system. I have heard other more expensive speakers and they sounded great but were not able to beat the Axiom price and still give me that incredible high dollar sound...I made the right choice going with Axiom! M80v3 Towers, Fresh off the truck!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:07:47
unboxed the first of the two M80v3 towers (not to worry about the V2 on the box, they had to use up the old box stock!) I was so happy and proud of these speakers. the build is top notch, they were very well packed and had good weight to them; just ask the poor FeDex guy! The old Polk RTi10 is retired and it passes the torch to the new Axiom M80v3 guard; it shall rest weUploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:07:54
side by side are the old and new fronts. the Polk Audio RTi10's are now in the hands of a very happy new owner who has never had anything like them before and is astounded by their ability; as am I with the new Axiom fronts that now take the positions of Front L & R! Calabrine Bi-Wire cables for my Front Towers, because I love them!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:01
You all know I'm a big fan of the bi-wire type action and of course since I purchased these cables, some years ago, there is no need to get rid of good stuff so, they now feed the new fronts! The VP180v3 Center, it's a Beast!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:09
weighing in at a nutt busting 56lbs and a length of 39.5", I give you Solarrdadds new center, 3 way, 6 driver 4 ohm Beast! this thing puts out some serious sound. I was meant to have this center, my stand has an internal with of, guess what, 39.75" like i said, I was meant to have this center. it's crystal clear and has lots of body; this speaker has got some ass to it, I'm talking "Sir Mixalot" type ass! Bi-Wiring for the Center too for the matching hat trick with the Front L & R; everybody gets some!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:16
Baby's got back on that center with those sexy bi-wire Calabrine cables throw'n some mean #10awg conductors up in there, me so horny....love'en it long time too! Gotta have a nice assortment of kicks for the new crew!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:23
Axiom provided a nice mixed set of feet for my fronts, since they are on wood, i went with the rubber flavor! They even threw in a wrench to tighten down those speaker post, it was a nice touch! QS8v3 surrounds for a complete 5 channel change up!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:30
i couldn't help but add these QuadPolar beauties to the gang. they put out a hugh, omni directional sound field so you really don't know where the speaker is, kinda funky but I love them! again, despite the packaging, these are the V3 version speakers! QS8v3 side surround mounted on the wallUploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:38
a mounted shot of the QS8v3 surround speaker, what is not shown is a recent upgrade. the black polk rear surround shown (in this picture and the next one) is gone. Axiom M2v3 speakers now take their place for a complete all
Axiom speaker system! Not shown here but, there are Axiom speakers all the way around now!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:08:45
If it were easier to simply replace a photo i would but as stated in the previous gallery entry, i now have new Axiom M2v3 speakers doing surround rear duties and they sound great. I recently watched "HELLBOY II" and the 7.1 soundfield was active, smooth in it's transition and was a real treat with all of the new speakers. needed a new sub, what to do....EMOTIVA Ultra Sub 12 to the LFE rescue!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:10
(While the US10 is shown, I've just upgraded to the US12) The fronts & backs are identical just that the 12 is a little bigger than the 10 and one has a shiny finish and one has an oak black finish. here is a shot of the back, it's got a nice assortment of connections and options for control too. I have chosen to take advantage of my pre-amp's XLR connection for my sub; helps keep the noise down and adds a real nice, secure connection too! This is my first sealed sub and I'm liking it. To me the effects in relation to a ported sub (or at least the one it's replacing) are pretty cool; it works like a charm and is very precise with it's responses. more fun with the new Ultra Sub 12Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:17
here is a shot of the front, look at that driver, i don't care what you have heard, 12" can take care of almost anything! i also gave it a pretty new Emotiva X-Series Shielded Power Cable because I love it! the US10 shown is now in the basement office secondary HT setup replacing an old 8" downfiring Yamaha sub.
I did create a gallery just for the actual US12, the other truth is that I don't see any option to change the photo in this gallery edit option that would be simple, you can edit the words but not the picture! need to stack components but still want cooling space for the top of the amp to breath, what to do..Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:25
i found this in an ad for computer gear and it is for a monitor to sit on and allow you to put the keyboard under it (or something else) and it just had the look of what i needed so i went ahead and ordered one. what a perfect combination of fit and functionality!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:32
this gives my amp plenty of overhead air space for warm air to move nicely and it's almost invisible. what you can see looks like it's part of a built in rack or something. the silver "U" arms match perfectly with the silver front sides of the Emotiva UPA-2 amp. i love it when a plan comes together. since i had to move the UPA-2 & the Oppo BDP-93 (83 shown but upgraded to the 93 in March 2011) to make room for the new center this stand really helped me out, big time too! forgot to mention something about the subUploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:39
i found a nice table (someone threw it out) for everything to set on. it use to all sit on top of my old sub, however, the new sub is really small in height so it would work out. i covered the side next to the sub with a piece of black felt because there are some cables, ethernet hub, small plug strip that i didn't want seen. it doesn't look great with the picture, but when your in the room, you hardly notice it and everyone keeps asking where is the sub, cause it really blends in and you can't see it. the flash brings it out more but when your there, it's not there! The XPA-5 & The PR-SC5507P, the usual suspects!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:46
the main amp, the XPA-5 and the Onkyo pre-amp, the PR-SC5507P are now the sole occupants of the space under the humongous VP180v3 center. before the Axiom era, other components were stacked on top of each of these jokers, but now, they rule alone and have lots of cool air overtop of them to their hearts content! They are joined with XLR/XLR interconnect cables for what I consider to be the best possible connectors/connections and signal path available between them. I am uber happy with both of their performances in relation to each other and all of my other gear! The sirius radio dock and the PS3 slim join in on the fun!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:48:54
some of the supporting cast in this production. i love litening to the "classics radio broadcast" program on Sirius, brings back the days of old that my Father use to tell me about that he loved so much when he was a kid. I recently gave my kid my PS3 fat and upgraded to the new PS3 slim; once again, my kid makes out good! Xbox 360 Elite is onboard with the change in management too!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:49:01
I love this system, gears of war and halo have never sounded better! iphone & harmony one docked!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:49:08
that about rounds out the crew, it's almost time to set sail! Screen shotsUploaded Aug 08, 2010 16:49:18
time for a couple of screen shots with the new speakers cause you just gotta throw in some screen shots! this one has the oppo home selection page (damn flash!) PS3 splash pageUploaded Aug 08, 2010 17:04:15
PS3 Slim splash desktop page with Percy Jackson Theme running! the seven channels of the PS3 slim running when gaming sounds incredible on this speaker system. God of War III & Uncharted 2 are a treat for the ears! The QS8's really shine when pulling surround duty for these games! Thor vs Loki!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 17:04:23
because as you all have gathered from my avatar, I'm a big, life long Thor Fan! The entire world of Thor!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 17:04:30
this is a hugh poster of all that is Thor! Thor the movie, concept art!Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 17:04:37
Here is a shot of a piece of concept art from the upcoming movie, Thor, in 2011, yes--i'll be waiting in line at the IMAX theater in Alexandria, VA for this! Wonder if I'm done yet....Uploaded Aug 08, 2010 17:04:45
well, I do own an RPTV and you know perhaps late this year or early next year, it just might magically be gone and some new HDTV might be taking it's place! Other than that, I'm done, well, kinda.... Ratings
