Anyone knows if Sony plans to have a firmware update to add "DTS-HD Master Audio" decoding capability to BDP-S500 or BDP-S2000ES?

TIA.

I would like to know that myself, I really hope it is soon! I have the S500 and I am having trouble decoding DTS-HD MA, now I'm wishing I didn't buy this BD player!

I just got an email from sony on Feb. 23rd and they said that they are not aware of a plan to release a firmware update to support DTS HD Master Audio Decoding.

I have a question. I bought a copy of " V for vendeta " and will not play on my BDP-S500. It starts to load and I see the anti prrate mesage then the " warner brothers" logo. It then says it's " LOADING " then the little disk appears and it shows it ratating. Suddenely the unit powers down for about 2 seconds and comes back on. It then starts to LOAD and does the same series of steps till it turns off again.

Will a soft ware upgrade help?

And if so what is the procedure to transfer the new software to the unit. I realise you down load it, do you put it on a DVD?. I can copy to a DVD or CD. But how do you execute the program in the disk ?

Thanks

How do consumers using the mac operating system update their firmware? Rather short-sighted of
Sony to penalize customers for not using boring PC products....

Sony will provide a free CD with the update on it top those who are unable to download and burn the updates.

Check the "See more" link in the firmware download listing...

"If you do not have a CD burner in your computer, Sony will provide a free disc with the firmware update. Click here to order the firmware update."

Dear Sammy,

I am new to this forum and living in Hong Kong. I have had the same problem with Sony S500 when watching the 'Iron Man' - after loading disc, nothing comes out..! By the way, how can I get the 4.0 update firmware as Sony Hong Kong does not the S500 model to be sold in Hong Kong?

For your information, my Sony S500 is imported from the US!

Thanks,

Stephen

SKwong _____To get the latest version click on the "download DBP-s500" green button above, select a down load format "windows any version" in the discription block at the very bottom you should see "see more" in blue. click that!

Go down to important notes, below that you should see wording in BLUE color. Click on that to order the firmware and fill out the form. I recieved my disk in about a week.

DVDANDY------ that sounds like what was happening to me I would double check your revision of the software by following the same instructions as above. I would try re loading the soft ware.

good luck

HI all

Well the latest problem i have cum up against is the HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER blue ray.
I am runing 4.1 on the machine and it starts to load then shuts down and restarts. I hope to see a new version come out to solve this problem. You know there are just too many bells and wishels put on these blu ray disks. All i want to do is see the movie!

Sam

I am using the latest firmware with my S500. Has anyone had the same time delay problems as I with the Blu-Ray version of '24'?
Each disk takes close to 5 minutes 'loading'. Then a further 5 minutes watching the ringworm. Then a delay before loading the disclaimers etc. Then on to the promos (which are the only thing of the foregoing which can be skipped). nearly 15 minutes before I can watch anything. And there are 6 disks!
Is this Sony, or Fox, or the weather?
Any thoughts anyone??
