Dial-up + PS3 = No Firmware updates... got it... So, why not just go to Starbucks and buy someone a cup of joe in exchange for a 30 second download on their laptop? You could even haul your PS3 along for the ride, just in case portable data storage isn't available in your dimension either...

Downloading on to a storage card works best anyhow. The download program is slow and stalls. Plus with a card, you can update more than one PS3 with just the one download using your PC. Too bad all BDs do not use the restart movie option from last played. That would be very useful to those of use with kids that use our PS3s for both our films and there games.

Wow I never saw this page before, this is extremely handy! PS3 firmware should be on 2.51 now I believe.

Hmm, can't edit or delete my comment. It should read firmware version 2.52, not 2.51.

Unless you must have the additional functionality of this update, don't update to 3.30. I recently update and it almost brick my PS3. Some malfunction with the update cause the installation to repeat many times ( 7 times for my case ) before it finally can installed and meantime, the player can neither function nor reverse to the previous firmware.
