A Carpenter classic now on BD.
Video is awesome for the most part except in one scene which looks awful (when Leigh let's Wilson and Wells out of the cells) and The sound is a big improvement over the DVD which I never liked (sounded flat and dull). Extras look to be the same from the DVD.

BD Must for your Carpenter Collection
HD DTS Mastr sound is the most powerful I've ever heard Carpenter's music and the 1080p credits really got me standing at attention. Good, because the next opening 'dark' scene is the worst looking scene in an otherwise exceptional BD of the classic Carpenter film. The film never looked or sounded so good which
makes for a better experience. I'm enjoying it more than ever before. Extras include Carpenter commentary and isolated music track in Dolby (sounds good) and a bunch of other stuff. I like isolated sound tracks. If somebody wants to compare the picture to recent blockbusters they are misguided. Looks great, sounds
great. Carpenter, good for you, good for me! |

"SAVE 'EM FOR THE FIRST TWO ASSHOLES WHO COME THROUGH THE DOOR"
Classic 70's low budget flick from John Carpenter with plenty of shootouts and good action. Most of the film takes place in a single location at the police station but the standoff is very suspenseful and entertaining. It's sort of a modern day western set in the 70's California suburbs. The relatively unknown cast and music work very well
The Blu looks and sounds great!!
Recommended for Carpenter fans! |

" Shit, shit, shit "...............................
Before he hit the big time with the classic Halloween, writer/director John Carpenter gave us Assault on Precinct 13 a story about a cop with a war on his hands with an army of street killers and his only ally is a convicted murderer. A Siege happens and all hell breaks loose. A great B-movie classic from the late 70's that still stands up today and even the 2005 remake was done in good taste with a different twist then the original. Image Entertainment's blu release is nicely done considering the age of this movie. PQ is clear and clean with minor grain. AQ is soft since mostly this is a spoken picture but Carpenter's haunting score sounds awesome. They also have that as an isoleted track as a bonus. to cool!! Well worth owning if your are a 70's cinema fan as well as a Carpenter fan. |
