What is the reviewer talking about?
Anybody who reads my reviews may note that I don't give perfect reviews very ofter-pretty much never. I was never really a Billy Idol fan but I caught this show in HD on PBS and it really sparked my interest. I quickly ordered the Blu-Ray and I've watched it about 20 times since.
I've read the Blu-Ray.com review and it again as in past reviews it makes me cringe.
First the video quality of this Blu_ray is first rate fantastic compared to other multimillion dollar movie productions and it is as clear as anything however there are slight moments of judder and snow which is why I gave it a 4.5 instead of 5. It definately won't detract from the overall experience. It filled my 16:9 XBR6 completely with no bars. I gave it a Movie rating since the tracklist is perfect and the concert itself is low key and perfectly documented. The BR.com reviewer claims the DTS HD track is the best but I've done comparisons and especially if you are a guitar fan you will like the LPCM 2.0 the best.
the guitars and keyboards pop more than the DTS HD track. I agree not to bother with the Dolby track as it is horrible. I can't wait till Dolby goes out of business so we don't have to accept anymore of their terrible tracks. There are no extras on this BR but for the price (I bought it for $21.99 Canadian) it's fine. I frequently dissagree with the BR.com reviews but perhaps they have poor equipment. I run a 52 inch Sony XBR6 LCD and Paradigm studio 40 5.1 setup with a Pioneer 1018 receiver. I've watched this BR on my dads CRT 16:9 toshiba with Klipsh speaker setup and his is vastly inferior. Equipment makes a big difference. |
