Sony brought a great blu ray

Casino Royale is just my favorite 007 movie, Daniel rocks, Evas hot, and the movie ain't too shabby. I haven't seen the original release of this so i can't compare, but the PQ is really good, i mean, this is the best Sony transfer i have seen. It looks really 3Dish and the colors pop out. the grain is only present when it is inteded too but other than that, the movie is sharp. The AQ is just as good as the PQ. The bitrate for TrueHD isn't high but hell, it sounds better than other TrueHD tracks. Alot of crashes sound clear as well as the gun shots, check out the terminal scene and you will know how good it sounds. There are so much extras, PiP with tons of featturetes, there is also a movie cash for Quantum of Solace that i plan to use. This is reference quality blu ray and the movie rocks...i recomend Casino Royale!

"I have no idea what an honest job is."

Although I enjoy nearly every Bond film, I like this one the best. It takes after the original novel better than any other adaptation (granted that the 60s and 50s versions were terrible adaptations anyway), and portrays very strong characterization, showing Bond's evolution from a reckless emotionally-driven novice into a colder, hardened spy. Thus, the acting and writing are excellent.

Above all, the plot is smashing. It's almost epic, not only because it's nearly 2 and a half hours long, but also because it has some very intense action scenes and special effects. There's enough excitement to outdo all other Bond films.

Plus, the photography is good, production design is good (without resorting to too many silly gadgets), and the music is great.

The disc has perfect video and sound quality. There are several hours of extra features included. Overall, this is probably one of the best Blu-Rays you can get.

Awesome!

The picture is just as good as the previous release if not better, and the audio is amazing. Surround really envelopes you and the new 24bit soundtrack sounds just as good as the 16 bit PCM track. Extra's are awesome, and packaging is high quality. Only shame is that they didn't include the extended cut. Still a really good release though.

Bond Is Back And Delivers Blu-Ray Goods

I was going to buy the standard Blu-Ray, but then I had seen the Collector's Edition was being released near the release of Quantum of Solace. So I waited, and my patience definiteley paid off. I had rented the standard edition, and it was still a great film with great picture quality. With the Collector's Edition, you get two discs, with a whole bunch of Special Features. It was interesting to see all the work that had gone into to bring Bond back, and the hardhsips they went through to 're-boot' the franchise with a new Bond.

The picture quality for this film is amazing. Bright colors with crisp and clear picture. When you see Bond chasing a bomb maker through Madagascar, the film really takes Blu-Ray technology to its advantage. One of the best looking Blu-Ray's I own most definiteley. The sound is also intense, with a surround sound you can't go wrong. This is probably one of my favorite Blu-Rays in my collection, and I give it the highest recommendation.

P.S. - Don't give all 5.0's a lot, so acknowledge this Blu-Ray is great =]

Bond great as always!

I saw Casino Royale in the theaters way back when, and watching it on blu made it that much better. PQ was quite poping and sound vibrating. The only reason for it not getting a 5.0 is that only Goldeneye would get that.

Don't miss it!!

Simply Amazing

The Blu is spectacular, delivering fantastic sound, picture, extras, and more. Hopefully Craig continues to do a few more bond films after Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Great Cinema History on Bond!

This has so many angles to it that all I will say is I bought the first blu-ray disc of this without the second disc and wished that I had just bought this only. Best Bond E-V-E-R on behind the scene info. The PQ and all speaks for itself. Amazing people who are behind the scenes in producing a motion picture. I L-O-V-E this move story, history and the people who put their heart and soul in making it. Thank you cast and crew of Casino Royale you deserve a several rounds of applause................ those are claps for U-ALL!

Awesome Bond Movie

I wasn't always a fan of the Bond series, but Casino Royale was spectacular. The story of this movie was extremely detailed and deep making this movie awesome. All movies relied on the plot; the plot of this movie made my experience more enjoyable.
The Video Quality of this movie was great. You can see the extremely detailed pictures on this and it was even worth watching it again for the incredible video quality. The Audio also blew me away just like QoS.
Since this was a rerelease, I was expecting to have some great extras and boy was I correct. There were some interesting deleted scenes and some nice Behind the Scenes type video.
Overall, I thought the movie and production values of this movie was awesome and should be owned by any Bond or Action Fans.

Great for any Blu-ray virgin!

This film was a milestone in my collection as it was my very first Blu-ray movie. Before my fiance gave me a PlayStation 3 for Christmas, I never thought I'd be plunged into the world of high definition... but I was. And movie nights have never been better.

Casino Royale is a fantastic Bond film with a lot of action. What's better than the action is the detail included in each and every shot from start to finish. The movie takes place in Europe, and the scenery is breathtaking. At one point in the movie, I paused it and my mom said, "It looks like a painting on the wall!"

Picture quality is awesome. Sound quality is awesome. Special features are great.

This Bond Rock the Blu!

Awesome Bond flick with a great looking transfer on Blu-Ray!

I was very pleased with the quality of this Blu-Ray.
The colors stand out very well. No blur, no softness. This is how all Blu- Ray's should look.

Bond at his finest....

Casino Royale is one of the best Bond movies ever. And Blu Ray just makes it even better. The movie alone is worth high grades but the pristine picture and off the charts audio really put you in the classic spies shoes. A must own for any Bond fan. Special features are also very well done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Some improvement

First of all i'm glad I purchased this collector's edition. For the extras it makes it worthwhile for me along with the 24bit TruHD track.

Yes, I prefer the Truhd to the origina PCM. I've stated before that the only difference that I generally hear between PCM and TRUEHD is that PCM has a smooth sound, though not necessarily better.

This track improves over the PCM. I found there was more inner detail with the TRUEHD than I heard on the PCM original. Particularily when it came to hearing more fine detail in the ambience. When it came to the loud bombastic scenes, that was pretty much the same.

As for the video? I'll be interested to hear other's thoughts on this, but I found the video to be less grainy than the original release. I'm not talking DNR-like but it was less grainy. Not sure it was any better or worse than the original.

The extras are what makes it worth it to me. I haven't scanned through them all yet but I love the docs on Fleming, Making Casino Royale and Bond in the Bahamas. I'll have to find time to check out the others.

So far looks good!!

Bond's back

The extras are fantastic and the audio is really great in TrueHD. I'm glad I waited for this edition. I normally don't like slipcases, but this one is really nice and feels soft, almost velvety. Nice classy touch.

The New BOND is BOLD, BRILLIANT and 007n Target!

Casino Royale was the first Bond film to feature English thespain Daniel Craig, who gained global recognition for his great work in the little seen (at the time) crime drama called "Layer Cake". Craig of course he has since gone on to become one of Hollywood's finest A-List stars, garnering lead roles in mainstream Hollywood films like "The Golden Compass", "Defiance" and more recently the new Bond adventure "Quantum of Solace".

Craig is a more than suitably naive and newly-furnished as the rudimentary and more raw 007 (what the character M calls "a blunt instrument"). Managing to effortlessly balance both the gruff toughness and cool of the late Steve McQueen as well as all the mannered quirks one would presumably come to expect from any Roger Moore or Brosnan outing. However, despite conventional word of mouth about the film prior to release, Casino Royale is fresh in its approach to typical popcorn entertainment. Well acted and executed, it features a refreshing, no nonsense action-drama/romantic storyline. The first half boasts some cleverly executed action scenes, such as one involving a construction site; where our hero pursues a villain who'd give a younger Jackie Chan a run for his money. While the remainder of the set pieces are generally pleasing to the eye. Not to mention the almost criminal-looking Eva Green, who is half Craig's age in real life (kind of dirty in a cool sort of way).

The lead villain makes a good sounding board for Bond to lay down his trademark quirks and smooth banter back and forth. The human relationships are the best of any bond film to date; while not one-dimensional or fleeting in any sort of way. The relationships and moments of the movie actually mean something important this time around and serve to enhance the story.

It's also a very generous movie. It has a little bit of something for everyone. There's plenty of classy dialogue, loads of both corny and gritty action/comedy, a bit of romance (some serious, some cheezy) and more than enough gorgeous locales to keep Bond enthusiasts satisfied. The film is more serious and a bit more realistic than the franchise's films have been in the past, focusing on a more post 9/11 mentality/atmosphere. However, Casino Royale is far less drab than it's Quantum of Solace counterpart and far more romantic (not love-making mind you, but think the literary term) and even a bit light-hearted and comical. It's also a more entertaining film than Quantum of Solace, if not a bit overlong. Again, something for everyone, if you're not too picky about the slight unrealistic quality and cinematic leeway of the poker game sequence.

MY BLU-RAY REVIEW OF CASINO ROYALE:

VIDEO (5.0): There have been those who have had minor complaints regarding the HD transfer of Casino Royale, but those complaints have eluded me considerably. I could find apsolutely nothing wrong with it. I found the locales photo-real and the textures and detail of the shots abundant and incredibly life-like. This is one of the best out there right now as far as Blu-Ray goes. Very enjoyable.

AUDIO (4.5): The audio of this DVD is very good but it didn't blow me out of the water like "Band of Brothers" or "The Bourne Trilogy" did in terms of sheer immersion. Still, nothing to complain about, not really. Not to mention the fact that as far as music scores go; this one is probably the best of the franchise.

EXTRAS (3.0): A little bit more than the original release, still nothing to write home about. There all in High Def, which is great.

OVERALL (5.0): Casino Royale is a worthy kick-off of Craig's new Bond for the 21st Century, a great popcorn flick as well as formidable romantic/action/drama; which can be compared to the best of them and not just with the Bond franchise. Definitely the most human of all the Bond films, if not the most pretty to look at. It might not be as action packed as say Goldeneye, but the acting and story make up for it. Highly Recommended!

Best Bond to this Date

Daniel Craig as James Bond is not only refreshing and new but captivating as he in my opinion is one of the best actors in Hollywood. Casino Royale is a wonderfully movie with a great plot with plenty of action to please even the most demanding film enthusiast. I highly recommend this Blu-Ray and think it offers one of the most complete packages to date.
