Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment!(TV)
No synopsis for Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment!. For more about Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment! and the Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment! Blu-ray release, see the Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment! Blu-ray Review Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment! Blu-ray, Video QualityIt's Entertainment is presented on Blu-ray with a largely excellent AVC encoded image presented in full 1080p and an aspect ratio of 1.78:1. Colors are well saturated, and, when not hobbled by some rather strange choices in terms of stage lighting and backdrops, lifelike and enjoyable. You'll note in several of the screen captures presented in this review that different segments are lit either mostly in red or blue or green, and at times that gives an odd pallor to some of the fleshtones. Also as you may not in one or two of the screenshots, the footage of the audience is incredibly grainy, perhaps because of dim lighting. Otherwise things look very sharp, with the exception of some stock footage early on in the proceedings of various Irish locales, some of which looks pretty shoddy compared to the rest of the high-def image. Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment! Blu-ray, Audio QualityBoth lossless options on this Blu-ray, a DTS-HD MA 5.1 and an LPCM 2.0, deliver the musical goods, with brilliantly robust sound and absolutely faultless fidelity. I just couldn't help but wish the music itself were a little better. Surround channels are utilized effectively for both audience reactions and the excellent band which accompanies the singers. When all five men are onstage together, there's also decent directionality, though the massed voices tend to blend together into a large block of centrally located sound at times. The string quartet sounds warm and inviting, and the low end frequencies are very clear, presenting the guys in the best possible sonic light. There are no balance issues of any sort to report, and all the singers are always adequately mic'd and mixed into the overall soundfield. All in all a stellar audio presentation.
