Unexpected quality
No one expected any effort to be put into this film, which is usually considered a terribly failure. I certainly didn't expect much work to be put into the video presentation. But I was floored! The PQ is the kind you show to friends to convince them Blu-ray is the way to go. Sadly, the barebones supplements are ported from the LD and SD non-anamorphic.
But the picture... wow! |

I've always loved CUTTHROAT ISLAND and felt it to be a very, very underrated film! Lionsgate does an outstanding job with the BD upgrade for this one - PQ is absolutely amazing for a catalog title and AQ rocks the house!!
I was amazed with this Blu!!! HIGHLY recommend, especially at $12.99!! |

I love Geena Davis in anything she does . This movie is very entertaining , not everyone's cup of tea but I love it .
Yeah I as rather surprised/pleased that the video quality was so good . Audio was nice too . Anyways there ya go . |

"I LOVE THIS! I LOVE IT! WHO WANTS TO DIE FIRST?"
Needless to say CI is not as good as the Pirates Trilogy and Geena Davis as Morgan is no match for Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow. However if you like fun high seas adventure with lots of action and explosions then you should get a kick out of watching this. There are also some pretty good one liners along the way and the great Frank Langella seems to be intensely over acting in an entirely different movie. Matthew Modine on the other hand is having a blast playing his role and it shows on screen.
Surprisingly for a film that was one of the biggest flops of all times Lionsgate has gone all out and done a terrific job with the transfer. The print is in mint condition and the detail and colors really pop of the screen, especially the island seqeunces.
The 7.1 audio is very good. Lionsgate does it again 
Considering I picked this up for $13.95 it's a great deal

DTS HD MA
Love the movie, very classic, video was surprisingly good, some times reminded me of Potc, very clean and good colors. Audio was a blast, fully using all the speakers, i was really scuked into the action, with gunfire and explotions coming from every speaker  |

Cutthroat Island very cool movie
I picked it up at BB for $9.99. I was suprised by the PQ and and sound. I have the movie on DVD and it was good but the Blu-Ray is fantastic. We poped it in when we got home and WOW we loved it. I tosed out the DVD no need for it anymore. |

Impressive Sound
What can I say about this movie that had NOT been said?
Well let's start with the bad
1) Geena Davis as a lady Pirate!? What were Carolco Bosses thinking (Director Rene Harlin was married to Geena, so I know what he was THINKING!!  )
2) Frank Langella is a KAYU bad pirate *Sigh*
3) This movie was SO expensive (they built two life size pirate ships for the movie and the cost was ONLY surpassed by Pirates of the Caribbean) that when it TANKED at the box office, it brought down it's production company Carolco, which also produced hits like Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
The Good
1) Matthew Modine did a GREAT damsel in distress tongue.gif
2) The storyline is actually a bit better then the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean!
3) So many things about this movie were copied by the writers of the Pirates of the Caribbean (down to the monkey, SERIOUSLY)!!
So if you have nothing better to do on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and is in the mood for a pirate movie, give this a swill!!
At USD 9:99, who can complain! |

Better than Pirates of the Caribbean!
I like a good pirate movie, and this one is it. Lots of action and good stunts. POC had great special effects, but I didn't care for Johnny Depp's character. PQ and AQ are great! |

A Fun and Entertaining Old Fashioned Swashbuckler.....................
A Decade before Pirates of the Caribbean there was Cutthroat Island. An over-budgeted over hyped box office dud!! It was as they say in Hollywood 'Jumping the Shark" and Matthew Modine who was on a sort-of hot streak with Full Metal Jacket, Pacific Heights and Memphis Belle, Gene Davis had Thelma & Louise and The Long Kiss Goodnight (which bombed to) and director Renny Harlin coming of huge hits Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger. Somehow the idea of a pirate movie just did not flair in the public eye back in the summer of 1995. Needless to say it eventually found a following and now it looks fantastic on blu. PQ is clean and crisp, Lionsgate offers up a well rounded 7.1 DTS-MA track that makes you feel all the thunderous waves and explosions. Bonus features are not the full booty you would expect, but decent otherwise. But if you are looking for a low budget title to add Cutthroat Island is a very entertaining choice. |

Okay Movie!
Well I had to pick this one up,seeing as it was on sale for $9.99 at Target.
The movie. Well,if they took out Geena Davis and maybe centered the story on a male pirate,as compared to a female pirate. It may have been a better all around action flick and more highly rated.
Female pirate,I mean really!!
PQ-Looks decent for a catalog film. Details were very nice. Though I felt the scenes on the island could of been a little better. Considering how great HD looks in brightly lit scenes.
AQ-Was on par with the PQ. Though the battle scenes came out pretty good.
Overall-A pretty corny flick that was cheap. Combined with a pretty good transfer makes this a half way decent buy. Though I doubt I'll rewatch this movie many times in the future, |

Entertaining and Fun
Viewers watch this movie for entertainment, fun and action, not for philosophical findings. This movie delivers just that. It’s clearly an under rated movie. This is clearly a movie that I always enjoy to watch again. |

C'mon people a 4 out of 5?
Did you folks actually watch this movie? It's horrible. The Blu Ray looks good, but the movie is not a ownership type of movie, it's downright a outright career killer for Modine and almost Geena Davis. |
