Everything I Hoped For!
As soon as I received it, I had to put it in, I was amazed at the clarity of the picture! The only format I have owned this movie on was VHS. Watched it with my wife and should could not believe it either!
Blu-Ray was the way this Movie was meant to be seen and heard, the Uncompressed Audio track is awesome! Highly recommend this for anyone who likes Mob Movies or Johnny Depp/Al Pacino, heck Michael Madsen as Sonny Black is great too! |

Wonderful Transfer For A Great Film
I was surprised at the depth of the image, the clarity and detail for this version of Donnie Brasco. The picture is crisp throughout--the streets in New York and specially the colorful scenes in Florida stand out well; it's really a beautiful picture. The sound is decent too--dialogue is sharp and clean. What's more, this is the extended cut of the film which features about another 20min worth of footage (147min). Glad I bought it. |

I thought this looked to be one of the best BD that i got. allmost no film grain. For a movie now 10 years old way to go sony. Now if the could just all be this good or better. |

Serious Acting
This is a prime time mob movie and shows the true power struggles within. Johny Depp is definetly on point in this and AL Pacino is the man. A great combo of actors and super picture quality in this blu ray. |

the director's cut is awesome!
I liked this movie when I first saw it. I managed to get a free copy on BD. I had never seen the director's cut to date and...Wow! Everything that they added was crucial and totally added to the depth of the film. It went from being a pretty darn good movie...to a pretty amazing movie IMO! Not to mention the outstanding Audio and Video quality. I am so glad I was able to get my hands on it for free because I would have been shelling out the 20 bucks to pick it up in stores. Highly Recommended! |

A old time favourite brought back to life..
This movie looks amazing, i popped this in my ps3 and i swear i was watching something that was filmed yesterday, this blu ray release has made this movie look even better and different too its like an entire new movie, the audio is very good was very pleased with it, found it could be low at times but nothing that really bothered me, havent rated extras because i rarely watch extras on any movie dont find it nessecary, anyways if ur a fan of donnie brasco or looking to watch it for the first time then i highly recommend it, im sure u will be blown away like i was |

Good Movie Exceptional PQ
Very well done film. Superb acting throughout makes for a very good watching experience. Great storyline not much else to say. Picture quality is possibly the best i've seen yet audio isn't so hot. But all in all, a must have Blu for any fan. |

Based On Actual Events
Johnny Deep plays an undercover FBI agent who infiltrates the New York mob scene in order to bring it down. Based on actual events, this movie brings a sense of reality to gangster films that just isn’t present in the likes of Godfather or Goodfellas. Unfortunately, this also results in a watered-down ending which could have been a lot more powerful and effective if a little more liberty was taken with the story. It is definitely an interesting look at the inside of organized crime, but fails to live up the classics.
Video is top notch. The print is clean and sharp. Colors are spot on and there is definitely some hard working people at Sony making these older movies look simply amazing.
Audio is also great. You can really hear the difference PCM audio makes with this title, especially during the club scenes where the music is bumping. Dialog is always clear and direct.
Overall, this is a definite must see film if you are a fan of Mob films. While it can’t hold a candle to Godfather or Goodfellas (or even Casino for that matter) in terms of story, the acting is right up there and it probably has more truth than previously mentioned classics combined. |

Another great mob movie
I had never heard of this movie before, but I gave it try since it dealt with the mafia. I was quite pleased with the storyline and enjoyed watching this movie. The video and audio are great throughout the movie.

Bitrate matters
This movie is a perfect example of why Blu-ray is the superior hi-def format. The video pegged my player's (Sony BDP-S300) bitrate scale most of the movie, and it's hard to imagine how the transfer could have been any better.
All other things being equal, if you limit the bitrate (as with a BD-25 disc or a disc in that "other" format) you just can't capture the full potential of hi-def video.
Just one oddity--in a couple of places french subtitles appeared briefly, for instance when the yacht's name ("The Left Hand") appears on the screen. |

Great movie
I keep trying to hate Johnny Depp, because he is such a hollywood pretty-boy, but he keeps proving to me that he really is a great serious actor.
This video should be rated X for violence and gore, but it is really an exciting and compelling story. |

great movie
can't go wrong with al pacino. Johnny depp holds his own in this one. pq awesome. audio was fine but i have bad hearing. this is one movie i actually wanted alot of extras because it was such an intriguing story. |

Massive difference from the DVD
Although this film is a little over a decade old, it's already a classic. A great story with a solid cast only adds to this blu-ray title.
An excellent image quality, especially considering the movie isn't new, is what really shines on this Blu-ray. If all catalogue titles would look this good, I would go bankrupt lol.
Audio is also very good although this is more a drama with a lot of dialogue than anything else. Nonetheless the music score is clear and sound effects used a excellent as well. A must buy!!! |

One of my favorites..
I love this movie, its a classic and is based on a true story. The image quality is impressive compared to the dvd, and the audio is pretty good too. This was an immediate buy once it came out on Blu. |
