CLASSIC COMEDY ADVENTURE AT IT'S BEST
Who would have thought a spoof film based on a popular sci-fi franchise could be better than most (If not all) the movies of that franchise. Well this film proved it could be done. Excellent story, full of comedy and adventure. Fun, fun, fun. Loved it. 4.5/5
PQ - Pretty solid throughout, with a few shots here or there that weren't fully restored. This might be due to the source. But for the most part this 10 year old catalog title shines on Blu-ray. Also, the entire film is 2.39:1. Unfortunately, it does not use the original aspect ratio changing. But I am not complaining as I prefer the film all in scope. Mind you the opening scene is 1.33:1, but within the 2.39:1 frame. 4/5
AQ - Better than the PQ by a lot. The level of detail here is amazing and the bass rocks the house. Very nice job. 4.5/5
Extras - More than you might ever need. Only reason why it doesn't get a 5 is because the features were not in high-def. 4.5/5
So overall it works out to a 4.5. I think with the amount of talent and fun this picture has to offer its an easy blind buy if you haven't seen it. Of course if your a fan of this film, this is a must own. |

Funny movie all the same, just not the best transfer
This is not a "reference" quality transfer......that's for sure. The PQ could have been a little bit sharper. The color is too bland in this transfer, a little washed out. It could have been bumped up a notch. Granted, there are a lot of greys in this movie, but it just seems a little lacking in the color department. Audio seems fine. All in all, a nice step up from the DVD, but it could have been better. |

Fun Movie
Good movie, fun for once in awhile viewing. Not one I would want to see over and over again. It is funny in places, and Tim Allen is great in it.
I was disappointed in the PQ. The colors seemed dull and washed out, and not very sharp. I expected more. Though it was better than the DVD, and I have to give it marks for that.
AQ was excellent. |

To infinty and beyond.
A pitch-perfect spoof of everything Star Trek, from the campy episodes to the geek infested conventions, Galaxy Quest does what some Star Trek films could not....entertain. Jason Nesmith(Tim Allen) is surprised to find that the side gig he booked without his fellow castmates is actually an alien races' plea for help against their would be destructors. Can Nesmith and his fellow "crewmembers" save this alien race from extinction?
The transfer is excellent with solid contrast throughout and very strong detail. The audio is also very good with some engaging sequences once the crew is aboard their newly crafted ship.
One of the best parodies of all-time and a strong tranfer to boot, this disc is highly recommended. |

Great Movie, and great Blu-ray
I saw this movie in the cinema when it was first released. It came out after Star Wars-Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I really enjoyed this flick. Reading the reviews you never quite know what to expect PQ wise, but I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't seen the movie in a long time, so I just remembered the scene where Tim Allen is standing in front of a gorgeous outer space backdrop. Well, that's one of many fantastic scenes in the movie. I was pretty happy with the transfer. There is some moderately heavy grain in a few of the gray patches in space, but besides that, it looks pretty solid. The outer space sequences, such as the chase through the mine field, look awesome!
The audio was terrific!
I love the deleted scenes, especially the ones with Allen Rickman's character. Hilarious!
The rest of the extras is nothing to rave about.
If you like the movie, don't hesitate and get it on Blu-ray now! If you don't know it: Go get it now! It's such a wonderful film! |
