Whoopi stole this show - but still a great movie
I had forgotten how funny Whoopi Goldberg was in the role of Oda Mae Brown - as good as the film is
on it's own merit, she really made some of the saccharine-sweet scenes easier to bear. Felt that a
little more could have been done as far as PQ is concerned, however, it is nice to have this out finally
on Blu-Ray. |

Still a classic from the 90's
I remember seeing this film in theaters, and it was a lot of fun, and it hasn't lost it's magic.
Whoppi Goldberg is still hilarious as ever in her Academy Award winning role....still touching after all these years and looks great in Blu.....the only thing I can't stand about the Blu is the menu screen....for some reason there is this stupid delay when you try and select SETTINGS, EXTRAS in the main menu....other than that...a great bargain at Best Buy for $20!...ENJOY!!! |

"MOLLY, YOU IN DANGER GIRL"
Just finished watching Ghost. Hadn't seen it in almost 20 years and had forgotten how funny and entertaining it is. Whoopi steal's the movie of course but the real heart of the film is the delicate romance between Swayze and Moore. They have terrific chemistry together and there now famous pottery scene is pitch perfect with the beautiful "Unchained Melody" playing in the background. This film has a bit of everything: romance, suspense, comedy and drama and still works all these years later. Also kudos to screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin for his wonderful Oscar winning screenplay 
The Blu looks and sound great for a 90's film.

Great Date Movie
Movie - great romance movie with a little touch of comedy
Video - The transfer look FLAWLESS ... i kept mentioning "LOOK AT THE DETAIL !!!" until i was elbowed and told to be quiet lol. I cant praise the transfer enough it really looks great. I also mentioned that the movie looked as if it had been filmed acouple of years ago.
Audio - for some reason when i turned up the volume it almost sounded the same ... i dont know lol. The music in the movie sounds great but once the actors start speaking the sound decreases.
Extras - having never owned this movie on dvd im satisfied with just the commentary track... im a fan of Special Features and if i can get a commentary track & Doc im all good but this release offers 3 extra features ... i havent checked them out yet but i mean they're there lol
Overall - hey its a movie that will make anyones eyes get watery and it looks great for a movie that was released in the 90s ... i love it ... |

GHOST looks amazing!!!!!Oda Mae Brown Girl!
OH MY GOD...was my reaction as soon as the film started...bright colors in flowers...soft colors in the bedroom....great sound....loved it!! too bad the BD did not have a "making of"..... Patrick and Whoopie are the stars of this movie......I am not too fond of Demi, but that's another story. |

A classic film gets solid bluray treatment from Paramount!!
Movie: This movie is just a classic in everyway. Since the late Patrick Swayze's death, this film just has a bitter sweetness to it that cannot be overlooked.
Video: 4.5/5 at 60hz
Now I'm usually not the greatest lover of film grain, but trust people, if you have the option on your HD tv, watch this baby on 120hz. On 60hz, you will get a wonderful filmic presentation that has incredible detail on people:close ups of faces, fleshtones, clothing. It just has a three dimensional pop to it that cannot be overstated.

Now, on 120hz, this film no longer looks like a 1990's film. It looks completely life like, I mean it takes the three dimensional popping imagery, reduces the grain and enhances both lighting and color to give this film, considering that it's a 20 year old catalogue, a reference quality transfer. I mean I cannot believe that this movie rivals many of the new bluray releases currently available. If you thought Paramount did a good job with Forrest Gump visually, pop this baby in and you will be in awe. I cannot believe this old film looks this damn good.
Audio: 3.5/5: not a loud movie, mostly dialogue driven but when it kicks in with the gunfire, trains, ghosts and the music, it's quite nice.
Extras: No different from the DVD but i'm sure in 2010 we'll see a 20 year anniversary or something.
Overall: 4.5/5
For any one who loves this movie, own it immediately. You will be in awe of this baby. It looks beautiful on blu. Now that I feel I can touch them, I cry even harder. Bravo Paramount for rounding out another stunning transfer. |
