Worthy BD of a Christmas classic
I was very happy to finally get rid of the horrid 10-year old barebones, non-anamorphic DVD of this Christmas classic. And here we have the Blu-ray which does the movie justice. Reference quality PQ? No, but I think it accurately portrays the movie as it was supposed to look...warm and cozy. Detail is there, particularly in closeups and the color is excellent. The sound is actually pretty good as well, with excellent clarity for the score and Christmas music and nice bass, for the few times in comes into play. As fas as extras, there is a bunch of stuff on the disc which should probably please extra-lovers to varying degrees, though nothing spectacular in this area. |

excellent film
picture quality for this transfer is really soft, the lighting in some scenes creates a blurring effect. the transfer was better than the dvd version though. such a great movie, still worth getting. |

Classic Childhood Favorite
This Movie is so funny. The pq wasnt as bad as i have heard. People have to remember that this movie came out about 18 years ago so dont expect an insane picture. I still think that it is def. better then the old dvd version. Its also a movie that doesnt have alot of scenes that show bluray to there full potential. Still a Great Movie |

"I'm Coming in!"
One of the greatest and groundbreaking Christmas comedies comes to Blu with a great video, very good audio, and many, but medicore, extras.
The video has very vibrant colors; the DTS-HD MA "core" seems to be fine overall, but I can't hear the TV in one sequence w/o cranking up my system.
The extras are large in quantity, but many are "junky." The most interesting ones are the commentary (which can be subtitled), the "How to Burglar-Proof Your Home" stunts featurette, and the deleted/extended scenes. |

Jingle bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All the Way
Home Alone is without question, my favorite Christmas movie. It REALLY captures the atmosphere of the best time of year. Everything about it makes you more and more eager to the 25th. This is a FANTASTIC |

Lovely Christmas movie...Great for Kids
Well I bought this today a couple days after Christmas and my whole family loved it...including my 6 and 9 year old. I've seen it before so I knew what to expect story wise...very funny and cute.
However, I was pleasantly surprised with the blu-ray. I had read complaints about the video quality. Yes, some scenes are a bit soft and some have a bit too much grain. But this is still a lovely looking movie. Grain is usually present but light and consistent. Colors are lovely especially the use of red and greens Xmas colors. This movie has a high bit mark usually over 30 mbs with lots of detail.
The DTS audio is just as impressive. I love the scene in the church with the choir singing. You can hear some nice church organ supported by the subwoofer. There are lots of nice directional sound use. The track is awesome both the orchestral score by John Williams and some nice old holiday tunes.
This disc has lots going for it. Even the extras were interesting.
Highly recommended.
Cheers. |

Classic Christmas Movie
To me Fox Studios puts out the worst blu-ray transfers. the PQ is not ever close to HD. if u have the
dvd
already its not worth buying the blu-ray. Besides the transfer the movie is Great. |
