Great Movie
Kingdom of Heaven is a good movie and the director's cut makes it even better. It also has great PQ/SQ. In short, it was one of my first blu-ray movies and it's still one of my favorites. Definitely worth checking out. |

Fabulous visual imagery and sound effects
I had low expectations for this movie as a story, and I was pleasantly surprised. Three hours passed by quickly. There was enough medieval warfare to satisfy those who expected, I think, but it is the scenery, the landscapes that really make this movie visually appealing. And on top of it, the level of detail was as good as any high definition picture I have seen. Blemishes in skin, fibers in fabrics, grains in wood, texture or bricks and stone were nearly palpable. I only wish I was able to experience the master audio sound. The surround effect was immersive without it, so it must be truly impressive. There were no worthwhile extras, in my opinion. |

Where are the extras?
The Director's Cut of the film bump the film up from moderately entertaining to one of the best films I've seen. I thought the picture and the audio quality of this film were reference quality, or darn near, it managed to improve on what was already a near reference in terms of picture and audio quality DVD. The big disappointment comes from the lack of extras, this disc only has the pop up menus and the Theatrical Trailer. It's missing all those amazing extras on the Four-Disc DVD set, which is the reason I still hang on to that version of the film. If this film does well enough on Blu-Ray, Fox should re-release it with the extras either on an additional Blu-Ray Disc or 2 DVD discs. |

Kingdom Of Heaven Directors Cut
I have both the DVD and BD versions of this film. What a huge improvement the extended
version is over the Theatrical Version. The film makes far more sense how Ridley Scott wanted
it to be. There are many scenes which were deleted in the Theatre version, which after seeing
the Directors Cut, makes you wonder what on earth the editors were doing! I wont go into
detail, but if you have seen the DVD version only, watch the BD and you'll see exactly what i
mean.
The picture quality is stunning. The detail on the chain mail has to be seen to be believed and
ALL the scenes are shot beautifully with much thought given to lighting. One of Ridley Scotts
best in my opinion.
Sound quality is equal to the PQ...if you are lucky enough to be able to listen to it with DTS HD-
MA (i am :-)), you will be immersed in the film, with the battles scenes particularly good.
Extras.....well, really there aren't any! I don't call a trailer an extra. Having said that i don't buy
a disc for the extras. I buy it to watch a good film with a great picture and great sound and
with this one you wont be disappointed.
Always enjoyed the film and now having watched it in BD it's definitely one of my favourite films
of all time.
Highly Recommended |

Compared to the theatrical release...
This is almost a new film, its fantastic.
Its got loads of new details that really explains the story better and doesn't leave you thinking that you fell asleep and missed 20 minutes of the flick.
Running at a heavy 3 hours its epic.
I love this movie. |

The movie is long but the story is played out better with the extra running time on the bluray release
I had seen the movie on DVD before and the transfer on this disc is the best I have seen so far on blueray |

Fantastic film!
I really enjoyed Kingdom of Heaven on Blu-Ray a lot. Although not historically accurate, it still makes for great entertainment. The film transfer to Blu-Ray was a fantastic one. This disc sports fantastic high definition sound and picture quality! A great demo disc, I just wished there was more in the extras department. |

Awesome film
My wife and I love watching this film. I was surprised by the review. I thought the director did a great job developing the characters. Also, the soundtrack is excellent. The director's cut is far and away the best presentation of the story. So much is left out of the theatrical cut that it is difficult to comprehend the plot.
Look. The film is about the crusades. It tried to help us understand this one piece of the conflict. Between the great film quality on blu-ray and the magnificent soundtrack...do yourself a favor and rent or buy it. |

Great PQ for an older release..especially at the particular bitrate with Mpeg-2 encode. Movie is good too, but its not award winner. |

Excellent
I saw this movie in the theaters on opening night and loved it. However there was of course some things that didn't make sense with the theatrical release. Plus there were scenes from the previews that I never saw in the actual movie. I am very very happy I purchased the directors cut as the extra 30-40mins of film makes this movie brilliant. It flows so smoothly with the added scenes, and parts that didn't make sense(or seemed rushed) now make perfect sense. The added scenes with the queens son made me love this movie even more. This is a true historical epic movie. |

Only one note really...
In general, I have nothing to add to the reviews for this title that have already been written, but one thing I wanted to point out is the extra features. I don't see how people can possibly rank extras as sixes and sevens. The ONLY "extra feature" on this disc is a trailor for the movie that you're about to watch anyway. It's a great movie, great picture, awesome sound, solid disc, but the extra features should not be ranked nearly as high as they are, as they simply don't even exsist. |

nothing to add
it's all been said. excellent picture and sound. solid movie, but long. but i agree with kasob - there are no extras. a trailer for the movie is not an extra feature. and though the sound is excellent, you have no alternatives. pretty much just a straightforward bare bones release. |

Ridley Scott's best film since Black Hawk Down
I liked this a lot better than Gladiator. There is a much more compelling story and the battle scenes are like Braveheart. When I watched the theatrical release I was lost by a lot of the political stuff in the movie this time I got more of the political aspect and enjoyed it more. This is one of the better M PEG 2 transfers i have seen. The audio is not as good as in a Black Hawk Down or something of that nature but then again you don't spend 2hrs out of a 2hrs and 20 min on the battle field either. But when the battle scenes get going you will know. Just sit back and let your self get emersed in the battle. |

Wise Purchase
This is an outstanding movie. Picture Quality (PQ) is spectular. Audio is excellent. Ya it is long, but an extremely high quality movie and story all the way around. Director did an incredible job developing the charaters and plot.
Kingdom of Heaven is the type of movie that has to be watched more than once. Making it a wise purchase. This is the type of movie that wins acedemy awards. It receives my highest ratings, as it has to be one of the best, if not the best epic I have ever seen. |

Incredible movie!
You need to re-watch the movie if you don't catch the underlying messages, which are spread throughout the movie. I thought Bloom did very well in his role. I don't understand how any of the acting in the film is weak. I think it's top notch. The cinematography is also top notch. It's almost like people are too dimwitted to understand the movie, so they give it a poor rating. Put your thinking cap on, and check this movie out if you haven't already. |

Great Film
I loved this movie. It goes into so much more detail story-wise than the Theatrical version. It's very long, but the story develops beautifully in my opinion. Soundtrack is amazing as well.
The PQ is good. I wouldn't say the best but it's very clear and crisp compared to the DVD version. SQ is great, no complaints there.
Overall the film is just amazing and probably ranks into one of my favorites of all time. |
