One of the better remakes in the trend
Having to have seen this film in theaters in 3-D I can honestly say that it was some of the most fun I had watching a horror movie in theaters. Not just because of the 3-D but because the film had the wild energy that most of the best post-Friday the 13th slashers of the 80's had and an audacity I didn't expect (full frontal nudity!). The story is relatively close to the original but the screenplay offers enough new twists to keep even the most hardcore fans of the original off guard for the most part. Having the recently release original I can vouch for that. The red/blue 3-D for this blu-ray worked great in my viewing once my eyes adjusted to what I was seeing. The 1080p boost definitely help. But of course you have the deal with purplish/greennish color since full color 3-D at home is not yet available. Extras are rather bland on this disc. The reason for the 2.5 score. Two short featurettes, a handful of boring deleted scenes are the main reason for the score. But it supports BD-Live and a commentary track by the director and co-writer. Haven't listen to it yet however. In the end MBV3-D gets a spot in my (short) list of solid recent remakes along with Dawn of the Dead and The Hills Have Eyes. |

Yes The 3D Is Great!!!
Surprisingly the movie was ok. I have never seen the original. The movie kept you guessing who the killer was with the red herrings thrown in. I have to admit, if it wasn't for the 3D effects I probably woudn't bother rewatching this.
(PQ) I watched both versions 2D and 3D. I thought the 2D offered a nice detailed picture, some scenes strangely looked like a soap opera. The 3D though, that's a different story. When I first watched the disc I viewed a few minutes of it on my 36" TV. I thought yeah I can see some of the 3D effects. Than I took it downstairs, and watched it on my projector with a 106" screen, Holy Cow! what a difference. I was truly blown away that the 3D effect could work so well for home viewing. My favorite part was at the 56 minute mark when a character in the movie slowly scans his shotgun left to right towards the audience. The gun looked like it was sticking 4 feet past my screen. I had to stop the film, rewind and pause that scene. It was fantastic looking!!!
The daylight shots in the woods are terrific. The depth of the 3D is truly outstanding. If you're a projector owner, you're really in for a treat with this film.
(AQ) Is a winner. The DTS-HD just adds to the fun of this movie. The surrounds are excellent.
The movie may be by the numbers, but the 3D really makes this movie worth watching. At 12.99 it's worth the money. You also receive 4 pairs of 3D glasses with the disc.
If you're looking for a fun experience with 3D, and have a large TV or screen I highly recommend this movie. |

Loving 3d
I love 3d. After watching Journey to the center of the Earth on blu ray, I thought that was great in 3d. My Bloody Valentine is a good movie. The 3d is not really eye popping like Journey, but a different type of 3d where the main focus comes out of the background if that makes sense.
For home viewing this is great. I can only imagine what the 3d blu ray technology will bring home.
The movie was good. Like many others I never saw the original and probably wouldn't watch this one, but it's in 3d. This is a good movie as far as "who is the killer."
Audio was good, not truly amazing. But it worked for what was intended for.
The extras...yes there is commentary and bd live, which I do not have an account and will set one up at a later date.
Overall if you like 3d and a good movie for a Saturday or in this case a Sunday night. Give it a try. |

Be Mine 4 Ever
While not quite as good as the early 80's original this remake still makes a nice effort to remake a classic horror tale that is worth at least a viewing by any horror fan. The real star of this movie is the 3D effect and while I was skeptical I found this "gimmick" to be much better then I expected on home video. Unlike many I didn't notice to much of a pinkish tint or ghosting although it is present in some scenes but not so bad that it takes away from the enjoyment of the movie. Overall the picture is clear and bright and 3D effects really add to the enjoyment. I actually dodge a pick axe that was thrown by the miner at the beginning of the film. The audio was creepy and kept me on the edge of my seat as I watched the victims get "sliced and diced." I have not checked out the special feature yet so I can not comment on them. This is overall a nice 3D film to add to your collection if you're a fan of the genre. Now, if Lionsgate would pleas release the original in it's directors cut form on Blu-ray to compliment this I would be very happy. |

3D Thrill Ride!!!
First off this is a great "3D" movie and I'll be rating it based on that fact. You cant compare this against other horror films, its not on the same level of story depth as them. The movie is an awesome bloody gore fest of violence which is expected from lions gate (A.K.A Saw franchise.) There's barely any ghosting and the 3D picture has depth and good clarity for a 3D film. Audio is excellent, clear and audible. As far as extras go there aren't many at all. Overall... a great and unique addition to your BD collection that brings a fun experience in 3D to your home theater. |

Decent remake but the 3D adds nice punch to a great BD
I really enjoyed the original movie from '81, and I wasn't sure how this remake would pan out as it seemed to be more a vehicle for pushing the recent 3D craze. Luckily, the director did a pretty decent job at not making the 3D shots seem glaringly obvious and gratuitous. Of course not all gratuitous is bad as this movie has one of the longest nude scenes I have ever scene in a slasher flick (and we're talking full monty here LOL). It also wastes no time in getting to the grue, which is here in heaping amounts. Flying body parts, eye gouging, disembowling, we get it in spades (pun intended)! The story and performances are decent and there are a few nods to the original, which I still prefer, but this is a worthy remake and I almost felt like I was back in the 80's again.
You can choose either the 2D or 3D versions to view. On the 2D, PQ is pretty damn impressive with detail high enough you can almost read the little instruction labels on the hospital equipment. Picture is clean and relatively grain free, and the many night scenes are well delineated and contrasted. Colors are a little muted, but that seems to be the way the director intended as to get the feel of a small, cold and depressing mining town.
Unfortunately, I am one of those people who get headaches and nauseous when I use those 3D glasses, be it on IMAX or regular movies like this. Which is a shame because I did manage to watch through a few choice scenes and the 3D effect was actually fairly impressive for a home presentation. Of course you lose quite a bit of the sharpness from the 2D version, but it still looked pretty damn good. I wish I could've watched the whole thing through, but if you have no physical issues with the 3D, I think you'll be in for a treat.
Audio is very strong with the punch to make you jump at the BOO! scenes, and nice directionality to add to the scares in the scenes like the supermarket. No problems at all with the dialogue level.
Extras are fair, with a commentary track, mildly amusing gag reel, some deleted scenes and an alternate ending and a couple of short featurettes. Bringing up the pop-up menu shrinks the movie to a smaller screen which I'm never a fan of. Digital copy on a second disc. There is also an LG Live thing that I didn't get to check out yet and at the initial disc load it asked for an update which was fairly lengthy, even with my FIOS connection. |

Fun 3D movie
ok so right away your thinking 4 stars?? yes, because its a horror movie and i rate them on a different scale then normal movies, you will never find a good review of a horror movie unless its by a horror fan, and I am one, the movie is just a fun way to get some more 3D from blu ray, and I enjoyed it in the theater and at home so check it out, its obviously not for everyone. But its good to see horror movies making the 3D jump on blu ray. |

Ok movie
I must first make comment on the actual review of the movie on here because the person who wrote it must not know that this movie is actually a remake. In the review it says it copies Saw and other older horror movies however the original MBV came out in 1981 (though thanks to the remake the original was FINALLY released uncut for the first time ever - for years the studio said it never existed).
Movie is ok (the original really was nothing special) and the 3D stuff was sort of unwatchable on my big screen t.v.. |

My Bloody Valentine 3-D
First off, let me say that the 3-D effects in this movie were awesome! However I remember sitting in the theater in the 80's, and they were done better in Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3-D. Friday simply had a lot more "gimmicks" than this movie, from yo-yo-s and eyeballs to being handed a joint and shot with a spear gun, it simply took more advantage of the process. That's not to say that MBV wasn't good in this respect, just not better, which i expected with it just being released. There was some ghosting, but it didn't bother me much.
The movie was okay but not great. Not much characterization (think "Scream"), if any, although the ending was very entertaining, and it did leave you guessing on who the killer was. Bonus to the director for the opening sequence of montages, and grabbing your attention right away. Overall I was satisfied though, and it has a place in my collection. |

At least it had boobs and bush
The movie was completely stupid but, it's not like you didn't expect that right? Some good bloody kills and a naked chick so, you can't ask for much more from a remake of an early 1980's horror flick.
I tryed the 3D version first and found it annoying as well as dissapointing. The 2D version was good as far as picture quality goes but it almost looked like it was shot on video and not film. I'm no expert but I am assuming this is because the 3d special effects. If Horror is your thing give it a watch but don't expect to be scared. |

great fun ride in 3D!
The 3D in this movie is stunning. Yeah A horror flick, lots of blood and gore, However a few twists and turns in the movie that will keep you enticed. The movie is not for everyone. I decided to rent it, I will say this is one that will be going in my collection. Audio is amazing, Video seems to be clean.
If you like a fun horror flick. It is recommended. |

I like it.
First I will say that I am not a big fan of remakes but this one I did like. It was much better then the original in my book with lots of gore galore! The PQ and audio was in my book excellent and the extra features were good. Again for a remake I thought it was pretty good. I have yet to see the 3D edition but I can wait on that. For fans of horror this is a must see. |

Maximum 3D experience
I saw this movie at the theatre and at Blu-ray, and I must say that the anaglyph 3D-version does a pretty good job. There is a very good depth in the picture and occasionaly things are popping out the screen. there is some ghosting at some points, but overall the picture is ghosting free. The color reproduction with the glasses is OK, i've seen worse.
The movie itself i'snt the best, but you will have a good time, thanks to the many effects.
If you're just looking for pure entertainment, this movie is certain a flick you must see! |
