Classic!
Disney is really proving they are serious about making their classics as stunning as possible.
Let's put it in perspective....
The movie: Classic!! They don't make family entertainment like this anymore. Pixar comes close. But the movie is 70 years old!!! This was the 2nd animated feature film EVER!!! Walt was still pioneering the genre. Its lessons are still, maybe more applicable today.
Video: People will complain about the aspect ratio. Don't forget that this was the ratio in 1938 b/c movies were shot in 35mm. Wasn't until Sleeping Beauty that movies started going to 70mm (widescreen formats). You have some choices if you really can't stand 4:3 in a 16:9 world. 1. use your TV to zoom in on the picture. You will fill your screen, but cut off some of the picture on top and bottom. The Blu Ray restoration of this movie makes that option just as gorgeous. The other option is to use Disney View on the Blu Ray. It fills the black bars on the sides in with some artwork. It really makes the lack of movie on the sides more bearable. Try it!! As for the rest of the restoration..... it speaks for itself. Superb!!!
Audio: Uhhhh.... any audiophiles who complain need to get over it. This was a mono track originally. Not even STEREO. And the Disney studios did a fantastic job getting it up to date for those requiring enhanced surround sound experiences.
Extras: Could always use more but there is a lot here.
Overall: How could a completely restored Disney classic be anything but the best?!! It can't. Disney takes everything they do seriously and they are proving that with the Disney Blu Ray classics! |

Made me believe in BLU fairies
Ive seen this movie on the big screen in an original technicolor print...and this blew THAT out of the water.
Cant wait for Snow White, and especially Fantasia! |

Need More Classic Disney Animated Films
Amazing PQ for 70 year old film. The Disney view feature is a great addition for these older movies not in widescreen. This and Sleeping Beauty are two of the best Blu-Rays available. I can’t wait for more classic animated Disney films.

This Triple dip was worth it!
Being a huge fan of classic Disney, I've owned Pinocchio in every format available. This blu-ray is like lifting a veil off something that I am very familiar with.
My only "dissappointment" is that the Geppetto's workshop scenes have lost a lot of their golden glow or patina, BUT I can also see that that is probably because I've become so accustomed to watching the flawed unrestored versions. I can also see many many details and colors never before seen. Check out the scene where Geppetto has dinner waiting and Pinocchio never arrives. The food on the table was indistinguishable on the old standard DVD release. Now you can see every item on the table and many colors that were just murky before. Then check out the underwater scenes where Pinocchio and Jimminy are looking for Monstro. I can't even describe how magical it all is - and 70 years old!
I don't know why black bars are still such an issue with some. Especially today when most things you watch on a widescreen TV have bars either on top or on the sides (except made for TV shows). But Disney has even added something on this disc for those who hate the side bars - it is called Disney View. If you turn it on it fills in the sides with artwork that suits the screen. Now that's got to please some folks!
This is a top notch release by Disney and deserves another look if you haven't seen it for awhile. |

Loved it again
It's like watching it for the very first time.
My little girl hasn't stopped watching this movie since i got it today, it's nice to see your own kids fall
in love with movies you grew up watching. This is one of Disney's best animated movies ever.

Pinocchio looking and sounding Better Than Ever
Best 'most Walt involved' animated feature has such a potent story, animation and backgrounds to die for! After you have been brought back to life; enjoy 'Sleeping Beauty' on Blu-ray. It was 'less Walt involved' as he was busy making Disneyland and the crew gave it an extra 'dark side' that Disney animated features have anyway. (and a Very Widescreen, wider than your widescreen TV, so those who freak when all the real estate on their screen isn't used will still freak at the black bars) I'm VERY pleased with Pinocchio's Blu-ray. |

Disney means business
Just wow. To be sure I wasn't dreaming I popped in the DVD that came with the pack and compared. I'm blown away with how well everything looks and sounds. For a movie my grandparents could've seen before they could drive, it looks incredible.
This is one of my favorite Disney movies and I'm so glad I got this on blu. Worth every penny and with this and Sleeping Beauty, I will not be missing any of these platinum collection blu releases.

This Disney Classic is Excellent on Blu.
The PQ and AQ are amazing.You have to remember that this movie is 70 years old so they did as much as they could with the picture.There are a ton of special features with this movie,and thats always good!! You could spend hours looking at everything on this blu-ray. Its a must own for every collection.GREAT JOB DISNEY!! CANT WAIT FOR SNOW WHITE!! |

When you wish upon a star...................................
Walt Disney's classic Pionocchio comes to life in this blu ray release. Filled with lots of goodies for the kids. PQ is in fine detail for a film of it's age. The print is presented in a box-shapped on your screen so you will have to deal with the black bars on the left & right. AQ in 7.1 DTS-MA is also fine but nothing to spectacular. Nontheless a great title for all collections. |

One of Disney's Best. Every frame is like a Painting
I remember seeing Pinocchio at the theatre years ago. It was a lovely movie but showed a lot of wear and tear in the pictures.
I rushed out to buy this blu-ray when it was available. Wow! Every frame is perfect suitable for framing. This is classic animation.
I read the original novel as a child and its a terrific story but much darker in tone.
The extras do a terrific job of explaining how disney's story is constructed.
The audio was nice but mostly mono sounding like the original. Although the thunder strikes sounded cool.
I highly recommend this blu-ray to all.

This is the way a blu-ray release should be done. this gets highest marks from me for movie,PQ,sound and extras. I plan on getting all the Disney classics on the superior format! |

A Classic
It's a classic! I remember seeing Pinocchio when I was a kid and I'm now 32 and it's still a fun movie. The Blu-ray is simply amazing, PQ, Audio and extras. |

great film history
disney's 2nd cartoon film. epic songs like wish upon a star. the story is very funny and charming.
the transfer is very nice some spots shine but i felt slightly underwhelmed at times. i feel snow white looks slightly better.
audio is great. better than audio of snow white.
recommended for nostalgia. |
