No special features for PS3 owners
While the review mentions that the Special features are in PAL SD video, owners of the PS3 be aware that PAL is not supported. This doesn't bother me all that much since these features are recycled from the LionsGate DVD. Also note that only 2 of the six! commentaries are brought over from the DVD, although why Carrot Top recorded one is beyond me. The upgrade to DTS-HD MA alone is worth the import (the DVD had a 2.0 stereo); the use of music and sound editing is great in this movie. Also note that the music credit on the back of the box is given to Lomandandy instead of tomandandy. |

Nice Disc Color. I didn't know it came in Banana?
Ignore Deimos's review. I have no idea what kind of system he is running. Off of my Kuro 111 this disc looks just great. Seriously blows the US DVD right out of the water. I even played it in my bedroom off a Sony 52 XBR 7 for comparison. No issues that aren't nit-picky at all. And that is only the PQ. It always pissed me off that only a crappy DD 2.0 track was available for this movie prior to this. I get that Roger Avery was going for the full on 80's feel with this flick. Open it up a bit and then dial it down. I'd rather have a boring soundtrack with fidelity than a FLAT Soundscape every last time. This disc is worth the Import for the DTS-MA track alone. Sure the extras are all PAL. In the end who cares. Keep your DVD and enjoy this because I have no doubt the wait for a R1 version is likely going to be lengthy given the overall failure of this flick at the Box Office and soft DVD Sales. I paid $17 for it shipped for Amazon UK. It arrived in 4 days to California. Fans of the film, don't think. Just order. |

ROA (UK) on PS3 (NTSC)
Movie is great. UK disc plays fine on American PS3. I ordered this from Amazon (UK) and it arrived quickly. Video and audio are good. For those interested, the film "fits the screen". Also, some short extended scenes that were not seen in American theaters or on the DVD release appear in this Blu-ray release. The two audio commentary tracks are nice BUT the other extras would not play on the PS3. No Avary on either tracks. Die hard fans will be disappointed that there is nothing on the disc regarding the fabled 'Glitterati'.
If you don't know, a main character in this film is Sean Bateman. In 'American Psycho', the main character is Patrick Bateman. These films are based on fictional novels by Bret Easton Ellis. Also check out 'Less Than Zero' with Robert Downey Jr.. Roger Avary, the director of 'Rules of Attraction', co-wrote 'Reservoir Dogs', 'True Romance' and 'Pulp Fiction' with Quentin Tarantino. Check out Avary's 'Killing Zoe'. See these films if you haven't already. |

Image quality FAILS
While every other aspect of the Blu-ray is ok, the image quality suffers of a brutal digital noise reductio, that not only eliminates grain. It kills all the detail of the image. In fact, the DVD looks much better played on the same 1080p projector or TV set.
One of the worst looking BD's I ever seen. |
