Maybe the best action movie ever

This was one great blind buy. The action seemed to be never ending and had me at the edge of my seat for the whole movie saying WOW! I had just watched the Star Trek and couldn't believe the Kyle Reese character in this was also one of the stars in it. He picked 2 great movies in 2009 to work on. I really loved the last 2 Terminator movies for their awesome special effects but the action in this along with the special effects blew me away. Great PQ and outstanding AQ. A digital copy and 2 versions of the movie along with Maximum movie mode are great extras included but the special features are lacking in time coming in at around only 1 hour.

Decent rivival of franchise

Overall, this attempt to bring the Terminator franchise back to the big screen is pretty successful. This isn't the best overall movie in the 4 films now released but it will entertain and certain leaves the door open for more films. The homage made to all 3 films prior to this one is great and is well inserted into this movie.

This is a great Blu-ray edition as well. Perfect image and sound...can't go wrong!

Respectable extension on series, better on blu

Terminator Salvation is not a revolutionary movie, but is one of the better films this year. Having a massive budget, it kept the movie gritty and real. The movie sends a message to the viewer and continues the story of terminator flawlessly. You will appreciate this film a lot more if you watched Terminator 1 and 2. Although T2 remains to be the benchmark for this franchise and Si-Fi films in general, this movie does not disappoint.

PQ-This is nothing less than what you would expect from a 2009 film. It is a blockbuster hit and the PQ added more detail than I saw in theaters. Sets that were made for the film are now seen in their true splendor.

AQ-The sound is going to give your system a workout. Great audio quality with everything audible. The balance is great, and packs a punch even without a sub woofer.

Extras-With maximum movie mode, digital copy, and some other goodies, it is for the fan.

You will not be disappointed. Buy

How to Save a Franchise Without Really Trying

After Terminator 3, my hopes for any potential sequel was low. Thankfully this film is able to bring Terminator back to some of it's former glory. While I would have preferred a more measured and dramatic film in kind with other post-apocalyptic films, this movie brought enough action to entertain throughout.

The video transfer is very good, matching that of the theatrical experience. The audio is excellent with very good surround use and some bass-loaded sequences ready to test most any system.

While this film isn't the post-apocalyptic film that I was looking for to go with the Horror film that the first one is, and the action film that the second one is, it is an entertaining addition to a great film series.

Skynet wont give up

Very strong addition to the terminator movies, this movie has stunning audio with alot of LFE. The picture is amazing and it would of been nice if Arnold could have actually played in the movie instead of it being him in a CGI format.

It Was Ok.

Just finsihed watching Terminator Salvation and first off the the PQ and Audio was very good as were the extra's. But the movie itself? I would have to say that the first half of the movie was, sorry to say it, boring. It got good at the end and it was cool to see a CGI version of Arnold. The movie itself was a let down though and I would say it is the weakest of the Terminator movies. I say its a rental only.

If only the first 3 looked this good!

After reading reviews on how good the Video and Audio were suppose to be I made this one of the my first Blu Ray purchases for my collection and was quite pleased. Knowing the movie wasn't going to live up to the standards of James Camerons first films it was still a very good attempt to continue the series and honestly will say it surpased the 3rd film givng the series a different look and enviorment. I will also agree that the Video and Audio are top notch. In fact the Audio should be reference to any other action film to be put on Blu Ray and the Video is about as much of an improvement you would expect over a standard defintion version of this film.

Bale Can't Hold a Candle to Sam Worthington!!!

OMG Sam Worthington out acted Christian Bale in every scene! I realized just how boring Bale without Heath Ledger's Joker! Great movie and loved the action. And yes I was pleasantly surprised!

Terminator Salvation = Big Surprise!

Terminator: Salvation had a lot going against it but I am happy to report that this film succeeds in both paying homage to the previous films along with establishing new & interesting ideas in the Terminator universe. McG who was definitely a controversial pick as director has done a fantastic job with Salvation and he shows that he has respect for the franchise by tossing us fans plenty of homages from classic lines to locations to surprising cameos. The action sequences are great; the style is very gritty, taking you right into the battle and the final sequence had lots of thrilling moments to it. The cast is also another bright spot for Salvation, Bale is solid choice for Connor (although his voices drifts to growly Batman from time to time), Worthington as Marcus Wright was excellent and Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese surprised me a lot with his performance and I really can see a big career ahead for him. As with any Terminator feature, the CG & effects are top-notch; it is weird to say but I thought that the CG explosions were awesome as was the work they did on all the Terminator units. While there was tons I enjoyed about Salvation, there were a few minor issues I had that kept it from true magnificence. First, some of the Terminator models really didn't work especially the bike-bots and the ending does wrap it strong but I kinda wish there was an epilogue to it possibly leading into the eventual sequel. Overall, Terminator: Salvation is an entertaining and compelling action flick that does a wonderful job brings new life to franchise while paying respect to past Terminator films. (This blu-ray includes the director’s cut of the film which runs 3 minutes longer but doesn’t really add anything to the story in the end)

Obviously this is a major title and thankfully, WB comes through big time with this release.
The visual transfer is terrific; the movie is very gritty so the colors are fairly muted but black levels are top-notch and detail & depth are quite exceptional in every scene especially sequences set during the day. The image is very sharp with no softness ever creeping in. As good as the PQ is; the audio is even better. This is one of the finest tracks I have heard; it is powerful & loud but it never loses clarity; bullets flying by and giant explosions sound amazing. Dialogue is always clear and the entire system gets a workout constantly; your sub will be working overtime during the intense action sequences. Sadly, the extras are somewhat lacking. There are some solid featurettes regarding the effects and making of but I wish they would have included a commentary track or a feature exploring the Terminator mythology. They have also given us a digital copy which is always cool.

Terminator Salvation isn’t quite the classic that the first two films are but it does succeed in being a intense gritty action movie that manages to bring new ideas to the franchise while paying respect to James Cameron’s original material. The cast is pretty good, the direction is great and the effects are outstanding. The PQ is excellent, extras are ok but the highlight of the disc is the glorious- demo worthy audio track that will make you feel like you’re in the middle of a war. Overall, I would definitely recommend picking up Terminator Salvation.

2nd best Terminator Movie

This film was great to me and def given the proper blu ray treatment! IMO this is the second best film in the series.

PQ is great! Its dark and gritty but this film should be no other way. Warner did a great job with the transfer.

AQ is beautiful. reference material for sure!

The only thing i will say i wanted more of from this release is extras, but Maximum Movie Mode is great I loved it!

If you love ANY terminator movie, this one is a must have, which im sure you've already looked into it anyway.

Amped up action

Terminator movies always have loads of action but I found this one to be the most unrelenting with little time inbetween action scenes and for a good HT set up it makes for quite the work out. This movie rocks right from beginning to end. It does a good job of tieing in to the existing storyline and manages to tell a decent story on its own.
I've got all the Terminator movies and I would rank this right up there with the rest of them. The only missing ingredient is Arnold's one liners. This movie is all serious all the time.
PQ is great. Close ups look amazing and even though alot of is dingy and grey the details still pop.
AQ is incredible. The detail and use of all 5 speakers is great. I think this movie made more use of my sub than any other movie I own. There is alot of low end frequency use on the soundtrack.
Extras I don't really pay much attention to so I can't comment on that.
All in all a definite buy and reference material for AQ for sure.

Decent movie

The only thing that was bad is that Christian Bale is terrible in it and the pacing of the film could be better.

Hopefully, the Terminator franchise does not die with this film (since the company holding the rights went bankrupt).

The sound on this Bluray is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hardly bother to do bluray reveiws, I'm doing one on this one just to comment about the sound. Warner shocked me!

THIS IS THE BEST SOUNDING BLU-RAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE SOUND THE SOUND THE SOUNDDDD, THAT'S ALL I GOTTA SAY, THE SOUND!

IT'S A REALLY GOOD MOVIE TOO, BUT THE SOUND, UNBELEIVABLE!!!

This should be the standard for sound, this is real lossless audio. Even at low volumes, this blury has high fidelity and satisfying sound, and people who don't like the volume up can still enjoy an immersive experience.

Much better than I expected.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn't the hokey knock-off I was expecting. This was a great addition to the Terminator series.

The movie was very good, much better than it could have been since James Cameron was not involved. Video Quality was great, even in fast motion scenes. Audio Quality was excellent. Extras are very good, Maximum Movie Mode is a nice addition. Definitely a must buy, especially for Terminator fans.

More than I expected

Now originally I chose to see Star Trek over this one while in theatres and now I kind of regret it. Although I believe this movie isn't the best out of the franchise I do think they did a better job than I expected. Action was what i expected and I thought Sam Worthington did an awesome job in fact his performance casts a shadow over bale's IMO...Now im yet to see the Directors Cut because Amazon is slow this time around but im not sure if my opinion will change. As far as the ending goes I was a bit let down. I don't really want to go into why because it will have spoilers in it. The ending was a bit predictable as well. Overall the story was great...not hard to follow at all.

A Movie that creates a name for itself.

Movie

I feel that the directors cut really doesn't deserve the R rating. I mean the extra action doesn't even show blood spatters or anything. It would be no different if I was watching the televsion show 24 which is a lot more gory than this film. And with regard to the nudity, come- on you don't even see anything.

Now with that out of the way I feel the directors cut is a much better fulled out version. I love the amount of character development in this film. I'm really looking forward to the sequel. (ie I hope Summer Glau is the terminator). But this film is one of my favorites and special feature to see Director McG talk about the making of the film really made the film a lot deeper with regard to context of the Terminator Franchise. This film I have to say beats T3 and matches T1 and T2.

I mean they went as far as to explain visually how John Connor became the leader of the reasistance and as minor detailed as to how he got the scar on his face in the flash forward of T2.

Video

Video is stellar especially the visual effects. I mean you can't even tell most of the scenes are CGI because they interwined real props and models at such a extensive level.

The 1080p transfer is great.

Sound

Let be real this movie is going to give you surround sound a work out.

Extra's

Only dissapointment is the lack of deleted scenes in disc one or two.

Overall I love the movie. Great drama balanced with character and action.

Delivered much more than I expected

I went into the theater thinking that it would pale greatly in comparison to the first 2 Terminator films. As far as I was concerned the only redeeming aspect of 3 is that Judgement Day happened. Is this film as good as the first two, no, it is a fitting film for the Terminator lore.

I was actually fascinated to see how the post-apocalyptic world would be shown. I was pleased with how they handled it. I don't get people who felt that the story was no good cause it lacked Arnold. That Terminator's story is dead and gone, now it's about the rebellion fighting back trying to save humanity. It's a human survival story and to this films credit, it handled it well.

Though Bale was excellent as John Connor and really impressed with the integration of the Marcus Wright story and how it fit's into the role of the T-800's. You could kinda guess how he was going to fit in, however the execution of his role in the film I felt was effective. While no one in the supporting cast distinguishes itself, it was good to see the young Kyle Reese, will be interesting to see how his character develops over the upcoming films.

I thought the video was excellent. This looks exactly as I remember it in the theater. I didn't notice any artifacts in the video. The muted color scheme came through sharp as a tack. I really don't have any complaints about it.

As for the audio, I most say this is the most impressive action mix i've heard since THE INCREDIBLE HULK and MASTER AND COMMANDER. Not only are surrounds full engaged and ambient throughout the entire film, during the action scenes I heard so much inner detail that often gets masked with other action films out there. Yes, the action is very loud, very deep and very impressive, however the ambience in the non-action scenes are just as outstanding. There are no flaws I can think of with this mix. This is far as away the best Warner audio mix i've heard. I'm sure it's a 24bit track. It would be interesting to hear some of their other near reference mixes had they not been downmixed.

Definite demo disc!

Good MOvie.

Great movie, but as a Terminator movie it doesnt work for me, i dont like that everyone in the future even skynet knows that "Kyle Reese" is John Connor's father. In the first Terminator when sara asks who the father is, Reese replies that there is no information on him, But in this movie it seems like common knowledge that reese is john's father. The movie is a great movie, but i dont like where they took the story. I think that is the common complaint about this movie.

PQ: Absent of color which is intentional and i like it, it is very sharp and noise free, the only thing stopping it from being reference is the absence of color and it is a little soft.

SQ: You couldnt ask for more, awesome dynamics, killer LFE, Dialoge is crisp and the overall sound design is very creative. Reference Track for sure, Gas station scene!!!!! Need i say more!
Good job MCG!!!

I rented this movie, and I really thought that it was great. It may not be the best movie that I have ever seen, but it was a good way to kill time and to have fun. I was also surprised by some certain guest appearances. The picture and sound was fantastic.
