Long Live the Baron!!

Very entertaining movie that is very much a Terry Gilliam film. Certainly some wacky moments and quite a bit over the top. The transfer is as very good, suffering only slightly from some wacky coloring from time to time. Audio only suffers from the source material not being as enveloping as more modern releases.

A modicum of snuff can be most efficacious!!

I'm a fan of Terry Gilliam and his films, and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is amongst my favorites. It's a whimsical tale that defies all conventional methods, and for me it really works. To put things in perspective, if you've never seen this movie before and you liked 'Stardust', then I think that you will enjoy this one. I remember seeing this decades ago, and I was really excited to see this again on Blu-ray. This Blu-ray version is brimming with crisp colors and has a strong vibrancy to it, and I found myself daydreaming back to lost times when I first saw it. It's a great overhaul, with the characters and images rendered in crisp, clean lines. I was really impressed with the amount of detail, as it added quite a bit to the overall ambiance of the film. This is the type of film that is a nice marriage for high-definition. Don't get me wrong, there's scenes where there's noticeable grain and soft spots, but it never detracts from the enjoyment of what you're watching. I wasn't as impressed with the audio, as it really seemed to be lacking in a bombastic flair. I had to turn the volume up a bit, but not really that big of a deal to me.

Another thing that I wanted to point out, was that this was a strong performance from John Neville. He really personified "Baron von Munchausen", with his mannerisms and demeanor being expertly delivered. He really does shine as the lead in his role. Also of note, it's rather easy on the eyes seeing a young, voluptuous Uma Thurman (despite not playing a prominent role). I found the cast to be downright delightful, with Eric Idle and Robin Williams also turning in nice performances. I was really pleased to get the Baron on Blu-ray, and quite impressed with the transfer. This is the kind of movie that I pop in on a rainy day, and just drink in the magical, quirky, and outlandish audacity that it offers. Multiple viewings are a given, for me personally. If you're a fan of anything remotely bizarre with dry humor, then look no further!

'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' delivers the goods, and it's really a fun trip.

Wonderful Film.

Thought in spots the film was a bit grainy, it was still much clearer then when i saw it on television 6 years ago. I love this movie, i have wanted to rewatch it for years, and I was impressed with the special features. LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! worth the price on bluray, special effects are awesome in high defination. Only reason i did not give it a perfect 5 for video is because it had slight grainy spots, as i stated earlier.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

I remember seeing this film in the theater when it first came out and really enjoyed then. Nineteen
years later it doesn't quite have the same effect as it did then but still very enjoyable. PQ and SQ
were pretty good considering the age of the film but i did find myself having to turn the volume up
and down between the action the scenes. Overall this is a very quirky film with a fairy tale like story
and if you have never seen it then I would recommend renting before you buy.

Terry Gilliam and the Clockwork Griffons

I loved this film as a kid, and seeing it now, the only part I could do without is the first scene with the Sultan. Eric Idle, Robin Williams...the bizarre imagination of Gilliam is the perfect setting for these acting greats. Beware of the extras...the French producer will make you wanna kick your television.

Just a Fun movie

A live action picture book. A wide selection of stars appear in it but if you think you are going to see a deep profound film you will be disapointed . This is a Fun and Campy film.

"Have you any famous last words?..." "Not Yet!"

This is perhaps the most under-appreciated film in motion picture history, and one of the best Blu-ray releases I've seen. I don't think it's possible for this movie to look or sound more impressive than it does here.

Years of better movies have ruined this one...

I rented this movie based on the fond memories I had of it as a child. Once again, what I once thought was cool as a kid turns out to be a major disappointment now that I'm grown up! This movie was really crummy, the story was stupid, the special effects were not very good and over all, it was just lame and boring.

The PQ could have been better but wasn't too bad considering the movie is 20 years old.

Fair

I didn't even finish this movie. It is very strange. After hearing of it for so long and how funny it was, I was surprised at how few times I really laughed, and I love British humor. If you havn't seen it-rent it before buying.
