Dazzling

Follow Leonardo DiCaprio into madness as he portrays Howard Hughes, the legendary visionary.

Another Scorsese masterpiece, hands down. Leonardo DiCaprio plays his role like a champ, and proves that he truly is one of Hollywoods best actors. His portrayal of OCD is true to life. Cate Blanchette and Kate Beckinsdale provide excellent supporting roles.

The PQ is simply stunning, offering up a high level of detail on faces, costumes and objects. THe first half of the film was made to resemble the two-tone colors of old and so greens lean toward blue and you may think something is wrong with the colors. I must say that 'The Aviator' has a striking picture; greens, reds and blues jump out of the screen with true HD 'pop', the picture always has a 3D feel, and the level of detail is immense.

The AQ is just as impressive.

Highly Recommended.

The Aviator

Within Scorsese's new fervent body of work,The Aviator stands alone as his epic Biopic of the eccentric Howard Hughes.Artfully directed and with the utmost attention to detail, the wonderfully executed film, breathes new life into an almost forgotten chapter of American politics, entertainment and business ingenuity.Indeed,a worthwhile exposé.

Ergo, one should expect nothing less than the very best from this acclaimed director, and for the most part expectations are held.Where as 'Gangs of New York' employed a subdued and restrained color palette,to better serve the tone,'The Aviator' astounds with bold colors, rich saturation and incredible hue. This is offset by the liberal use of soft-focus and emulation of multicolor.

The audio does well to serve the films' developing mood and overall tone, while allowing the era-specific score to denote setting, while not overly energetic. It keeps pace with the storyline and is effective in its execution within the realms of aviation and the aircraft used.

Well though out and almost superfluous, the bonus content give you an intimate look at both the cast and crew and Howard Hughes the man,Particularly the History Channels look into Hughes contributions to his vast array of interests.

Whilst not a must have,it is imperative, and required viewing for those adherents to both Scorese and fine cinema alike.

Great transfer, Great film

Not sure what the problem is with DeCaprio. I think he did great in this. I guess we forget that
DeNiro was in most of Scorsese's films before Leo. And like Leo, got an Academy Award nom for just
about every role. Quit hattin. Dude is talented. Scorsese finds someone he likes, and who works his
ass off for the character, and there you have it. I liked Leo better in this than Gangs of NY. Didn't
dislike him in Gangs, just thought this performance was better. I love the imagery in this film; the
pacing, the music. Just a really fun movie to watch. Exhilarating. Kate is amazing. She never
ceases to amaze me. If you put this up on a big screen, turn down the lights and crank it up, can't
really understand why you wouldn't enjoy this film. I think its better than Departed, and I also must
boast that its Scorsese's best film since Goodfellas.

Great movie

The Aviator is a great movie portraying the life of American aviator, entrepreneur and moviemaker Howard Hughes. The movie reveals Howard's genius and great achievements as well as his struggle with OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) which eventually leads to his decline. DiCaprio's performance is spectacular.

PQ and SQ are great!

Highly recommended

The amazing and anal Howard Hughes.............................

DiCaprio and Scorsese are at it again in this epic tale of the late, great and reckloose Howard Hughes as he goes against all odds in Hollywood and in gives birth to Aviation as we travel today and eventually tomorrow. Warner's blu is without it's faults but the PQ is a step up from the DVD and AQ is far game but nothing to outstanding. Bonus material is as indepth as the feature film itself and this one is a must own for DiCaprio/Scorsese fans as well as history buffs.

DiCaprio's finest role

The performance by DiCaprio in this movie is simply outstanding. I had to look up to see who he lost to at the Academy Awards, but I have to agree that Jamie Foxx's potrayal in "Ray" was only slightly better.

The movie is a bit long but it is telling the life of a man who lived 50 lives in one. I had not seen this movie in a few years but just like all of the great Scorcese films, you notice many new things in each viewing. So many great little details in this one showing all of Howard Hughe's eccentricies. Highly reccomended.

"The way of the future."

In my opinion, unlike Greg Maltz (our blu-ray reviewer), Scorcese would have cast Leonardo as
the main role of this movie no matter how much leeway he had from the studios. Yes, I do agree
I'd like to see Martin cast some new faces as leads, but I feel that Leo was outstanding in this,
Gangs of New York, and the Departed. I would not have cast any of these movies differently.

This is a great movie depicting the life of a man who played a big role in aviation history, Howard
Hughes. Acting was great all around... yes, even from Leo, Greg. I made a blind buy with this film,
since Scorcese had directed it and I had taken so many years to even give it a fair shot. I'm
pleased to say I am very happy with my purchase and regret not watching it sooner!

PQ and AQ were excellent, in my opinion! Supplements were aplenty! I'd also like to point out
that alisraza16 must be mentally challenged, because he clearly does not know what he is
talking about. Whether the one likes a movie or not should not have any say on the PQ and AQ
rating.

All in all, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! A fantastic biopic with an outstanding cast and director!

Really amazing! Another excellent Scorsese picture...very very entertaining. The pq was outstanding and the aq sounded great too but I would have liked to have compared an TrueHD track

I would really like to say that this the "Master' Martin Scorsese truly at the top of his game!
