Darabont & King
First things first - Frank Darabont should have exclusive rights to bring Stephen King's novels to the big screen. SHAWSHANK, GREEN MILE and then THE MIST...no one adapts King better than Frank Darabont!
Being one of those who was a bit shocked to hear about THE GREEN MILE being released on Blu-ray this week as a Best Buy exclusive, I naturally ran out to get it.
WB has produced a phenomenal BD of this remarkable film!
PQ - strong, deep contrasts, vibrant colors on a film that has always looked dulled and a bit flat on standard DVD. Near-reference quality with no hint of DNR doctoring. Just watch the scene with Hanks and Gary Sinise - it's visual splendor.
SQ - achieves what it's there to do...supplement the lighting with booming thunder.
Should you upgrade your 2-disc special edition DVD? ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Whether you do so now or later, just do so. If you loved WB's treatment of SHAWSHANK on Blu, you're going to love GREEN MILE even more!! |

The Green Mile
Great Movie. I have always felt that it had to live in Shawshank's big fat shadow (sorry for the Walk the Line quote) but it stands right next to it now with this solid Blu-Ray release.
The digibook part was a nice added addition but I love the digibooks. If you don't like I can understand, I kinda miss the title cards in DVD's.
The sound was really good. The entire movie is dialog heavy so....
The picture quality was very good. This movie has never looked better. |

The BEST bluray yet!!
This is definitely the best bluray yet! A+ audio and video. I enjoyed watching the Green mile so much more on bluray than I did on dvd. AWESOME movie. The colors on this version are brighter. The green tiles are amazingly clear. Every detail on their face is alot more noticeable. This version puts the dvd version to shame. Definitely my best bluray purchase yet. Enough said. |

Classic King movie.
Few Stephen King novels have been made into great movies. Shawshank and Green Mile are two rare exceptions. I find it bizarre that these movies show up out of no where with no announcement, but I'm glad to be able to pick it up. |

This is a Best Buy exclusive so get it when you can. This is an amazing film, it is so sad and well acted by Tom Hanks. This is a classic and will remember for a long time. |

Halloween Prison Movie
Speculative fiction behind bars. Due to the author, director and local, it's like Shawshank with some Fantastic Happenings and so much more. Moving and mesmerizing story has great performances, thick mood and the some of the fastest and most fulfilling 3 hours you'll ever spend.
BD looks and sounds great. An October surprise exclusive at BB. |

Great Movie
I got this a few weeks ago at best buy..Love the movie and was pleasantly surprised at the PQ and AQ...Excellent transfer...Don't care for extras and am a firm believer that extras should have their own disc leaving more space for PQ.. |

Great Movie, PQ, AQ.......Overall an amazing package....
This movie is beyond the definition of a movie for me.......movies are totally fiction, but this one, like its older brother (shawshank), makes it a virtual reality.....totally worth a view if you haven't seen this incredible film.
PQ - very good transfer.........I am ALWAYS skeptical when buying WB blus because they vary so much in quality but I assure you that "The Green Mile" is well presented on this disc.
AQ - a quality track is provided on this blu even though its a dialogue based movie (excellent script)
Extras - Don't care at all for extras.....I want the movie, period........
Overall its a great deal if you are a fan of this movie......Get it! |

Good Movie
This movie is good, but too long. I found myself getting bored. The acting, however, is superb.
In every review, they rave about the PQ, but I didn't find it all that great. Barely a 4 in my book. |
