Perfect!
Saw this movie 2 times in theatres and that's enough to know that this Blu-ray captures the same
Picture and Audio quality that it did when it was in theatres...even higher! The golden hues,
oversaturation, intense backround light is what Michael Bay uses in his recent movies (see "The
Island", "Bad Boys 2") that's his style.
Also, the grain inherent in the PQ is similar to what it was in
the theatrical run. **People, Grain is going ALWAYS going to be in Film...that's what makes film, film.
Grain may not be as evident as it is in some Blu-ray movies but you can bet it's there in all movie
filmmed on film. If you have trouble with it, turn down your Sharpness (but your loss since you'll also
loose detail/definition) Stop complaining!** AQ is loud, and very clear (see the Tranformers first
meeting with Sam and Mikaela) with little neuances of things clicking into place and bass was very
deep.
Extras also VERY plentiful and shows A lot to what/how this movie came to be all of it is
presented in clear HD! MUST HAVE! |

Awesome its about time...
Well here it is. Its about time that they finally released it on Blu, or i never would have purchased it. A movie like this is too good for DVD. The extras are awesome! The Bluray live is great!! It really makes the movie watchable over and over. A-LOT of cool info about the characters. Overall i love this movie, love Transformers and i am glad it is finally on the best format!! |

Worth the Wait!
We all know the back story behind this Blu-ray release and Paramount has put forth a great effort on this!
Video and Audio are reference quality, leaps above the upscaled DVD I watched for the past year!
Other Studios (WB) should take notes with this release since everything about it is first rate! Well worth the wait Paramount! |

Waited for this..
If you own the HD DVD version, do not buy this film. Outside the audio this is an exact copy of the HD DVD. The audio is better but I was expecting better PQ for a Blu release.
I did not like this film at all. I would have given it a .5 but the action scenes made me give it more credit than it deserves. |

The movie a lot of people transforms into spectacular Blu Ray
First off this is a Michael Bay film so don't expect a whole lot of explenation. Put your brain on hold and wait for things to explode, I mean it in the final action sequence Bay manage's to decimate about five city blocks.
Video:
I have no idea how the HD DVD release looked but the Blu Ray release looks absolutly amazing, The flesh tones looked a little warm to me but I remember them being that way in the theater also. The detail of the "Transformers" is stunning after they have been in a battle you can see scatches on the machiens they shimmer and shine like crazy.
Audio:
This has to be one of the most active tracks I have ever heard the surrounds are constantly going, even in scenes that I would not expect them to be. The bass was some of the deepest base I have ever heard. There are places in the movie that I thought they could have used the bass where they didn't, like at the beginning where the allspark is hitting the astroids in space there was no bass what so ever, and when Megatron turns into a jet would have been a perfect place to use bass but one again low end was abcent. but that being said this is demo material for sure. |

Finally...
Well I finally got this in the mail and I was pretty blown away. Not a huge improvement (if any) over the HD DVD. Picture is phenomenal but the sound is far better.
I was going to hold off buying this until it dipped under $20, but I couldn't wait, and I am definitely glad I did.
Sure the movie isn't anything Oscar-worthy, but its got its comedic moments and the entertainment value is second to none. Let's face it, Michael Bay sucks, but that is no reason NOT to buy this movie on blu ray.
If you already own the DVD, you even get a $10 off coupon for upgrading.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! |

Hits the Ground Running and Doesn't let go...
Despite being loud and occassionally obnoxious and dizzying, the may well be Michael Bay's most fully realized visual entertainment. Transformers is pleasing enough to the fans in order to not cause an uproar and exciting enough for everyone else. People have complained about the human characters in this film, but I say so what? What everyone is seeing it for is the cool robots and stuff blowing up, and no one can deliver that kind of thing better than Michael Bay. The film is a pleasing blockbuster sure to fire up the adrenaline in any action fans day.
MY BLU-RAY REVIEW:
MOVIE (4.0): Transformers is distracting to occassionally riveting. Kids will enjoy the big robots while everyone else should appreciate the cast of characters and military action/jargon. Its silly enough not be taken too seriously while realistic enough not to feel embarrased about it.
VIDEO (5.0): Despite having that 'commercial-look' present in all Michael Bay films that I tend to hate, the visuals in this movie are simply too impressive to be ignored. Some of the transformer effects on the Blu-Ray literally floored me.
Audio (5.0): The film spots some of the best sound out there, gun-shells, tanks, jets and cars clash and clank with the best of them, Transformers is a Sound Mixer's wet dream and nightmare all at once. You'll be wishing you brought ear-plugs because this one will blow your socks off.
Extras (5.0): Plenty of extras for fans to enjoy.
Overall (4.5): Overall, Transformers is a great title to rent or own, whether your showing it to family and friends or just enjoying a great movie experience at home. Remember the popcorn. |

Worthy purchase demo material
Movie (4/5)
I have never been a transformers fanatic but after this for the time in the cinemas, I was kinda like wateva but watching it on Blu has made me enjoy the concept much more, and I probably will end up watching this film more often for it's awesome action sequences and somewhat interesting story. It isn't perfect, but films based on comics have never quite been perfected. I'm not saying Transformers is a bad film, just the concept is very hard to get right and this was 80% of the way there. Michael Bay has done a fine job with this film.
Video (4.5/5)
Impressive is what I'd say, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it was very close to what I expected. The only denominator that made me marking a perfect 5 is the black level would slighlty ossilate and the grain is quite evident in the night time scenes from the more sensitive film stock, but otherwise this isn't too distracting. One or two shots lost their focus but may have been the intended look, but otherwise this feature is full of vibrant colours, harsh contrast and plently of fast action sequences with no artifcating nor banding. The bitrate sits in the 30-35 mbs level.
Audio (4.5/5)
Good, plenty of cool sounds to hear in this feature and I must say it is very impressive, but not entirely perfect. I found that the master level seems a tad lower than standard and I was having to pump up the volume a tad higher than what I usually have my amp set at but maybe this was to compensate for the maginificent thumps and crashes from the explosions everywhere. Dialogue is mostly clear and no real flaws to be pointed out here.
Extras (4.5/5)
Haven't looked at these yet, but having the 2 discs is pretty cool.
Overall (4.5/5)
I'm quite pleased with this Blu-ray, I will admit it isn't qutie perfect but it will certainly impress first time viewers to the blu generation. The story isn't quite the full quid but as mentioned before, creating a film from a comic is tough to nail. Quite suitable as a demo disc.
Highly Reccomended. |

Cool!
This is a cool movie. I'll admit it that upon repeated viewings, it doesn't have the same effect as the first time I watched it in a theatre but its still a lot of fun. Heads and shoulders above the sequel which was absolute crap. Audio/video presentation on the blu-ray is superb! Its a shame Paramount didn't give it the DTS-HD Master treatment that the sequel got but the Dolby TrueHD track is just as kick-ass. Most of the extras seem to be match up with the excellent DVD except for a few BD exclusives like BD-Live or whatever that crap is. A fantastic Blu-ray!

Wow! stunning PQ!!!
I really thought it was a decent action film. I think its a little over-hyped, but it has a strong fanbase. PQ was probably one of the best i have seen yet on blu-ray |

Heavy Metal War
Blockbuster director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg bring the popular toy franchise to the big screen in the visually dazzling smash hit "Transformers". For countless eons, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons were locked in a fierce war that has ravaged their home planet Cybertron and spread across the galaxy to reach the planet Earth. Now, young Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) joins the Autobots to recover a powerful energy source known as the Allspark before the Decepticons use this power to take complete control of all human technology. "Transformers" is far from being the perfect movie but it's truly an entertaining SFX extravaganza that appeals to the kid in all of us. Director Michael Bay has certainly outdone himself on his latest big-budgeted project that keeps audiences glued to the screen. The visual effects are extraordinary and the action sequences are spectacular. The summer blockbuster also stars Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rachel Taylor, Anthony Anderson, John Turturro and Academy Award winner Jon Voight.
If you're looking for a Blu-Ray to showcase your home theater system, then "Transformers" 2-Disc Special Edition is a highly recommended purchase. The 2007 summer blockbuster is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen format. The picture quality is certainly one of the best of any Blu-Ray release. The images are incredibly detailed and virtually flawless. The 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio offers a superb heart-pounding home theater experience. The three in-depth behind-the-scenes featurettes "Our World", "Their World" and "More than Meets the Eye" offers numerous insights in the film's production, special effects, franchise history and much more. It also features an audio commentary by director Michael Bay. |

"TEH true bluray experience"
the first BD i ever saw was the dark knight. i must say that i was truly blown away by every aspect of it. then i saw ironman, troy, casino royal and some other action flicks (i think its retarded to spend over $25 on a BD about comedic-romance or the likes). all of them were of superb quality and i was really pleased with my investment. i hadn't bought transformers because i already owned it on dvd and still didn't have plans to start renewing my dvd collection. however, i saw it on sale and thought it was a good place to start renewing my dvds. oh... my... god... . i had previously heard of some BD saying they were the ultimate blu-ray experience. i was like, wtf dude, how much better could you get. how naive was i to think this. this BD is truly something else. yes, movie wise it's not nearly as good as dark knight or even ironman, but all that just becomes irrelevant because of the visual and auditive experience. the PQ is just so amazing that you forget about the movie at times and just concentrate on the amazing amount of detail in every single shot. close up shot of actors are just amazing, they actually feel like they're standing right in front of you. the transformations of the robots are incredible, you can see every piece moving and assembling into place. the sound is also mind blowing. i would've rated the movie higher but you've got to remember that when you grade something you must have a reference point and giving it a higher score would demerit movies have better story telling and far better acting. (megan fox does not act people. she may be the hottest chick in Hollywood right now, but she can't act to save her life. sorry, i had to say it.) so, do i recommend it? absolutely yes. even if you're this kind of old dude in your mid 50's that hates everything that has to do with special effects and thinks that movies should be like they made them in the 80's and backwards, it's just imposible to deny that this is a truly amazing cinematic experience that can not be missed out by anyone. this is "TEH true bluray experience". so go buy the movie people! |

A blu-ray must have!
This movie was amazing in DVD, but even more amazing in BLU-RAY format.
Comparing to HD-DVD, there isn't much of a difference in both picture and audio quality but since HD-DVD kicked the bucket, there is almost no way of getting the hd-dvd version in stores anymore, let alone the hd-dvd players. If you have the HD-DVD version, then by-all-means, don't purchase the blu-ray version but otherwise, this is indeed a blu-ray must have.
The quality is still outstanding! From PQ to Audio, this is a true HD movie that anybody, fans of the franchise and blu-ray folks, can enjoy. PQ was crisp and clear. The colors are very vibrant, not too bright and not too dark. The detail is crazy! You notice the details when you see the bots for the first time. Audio is indeed True HD. The sound effects and everything make this movie very much realistic and enjoyable.I say again that this movie is one that anybody can enjoy!
My only complaint to this release is the loading time, which for my PS3, took about almost 5 minutes. That was my first time loading it. Afterwards, there wasn't much loading. |

Amazing Movie Somehow Now Lacking Appeal
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE BLURAY, but there is only a marginal difference between the HD-DVD and the new Bluray release. Background images are more clear and action is not as choppy some scenes do look 10X better but everything else was on par with any other 1080p content. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in the loading time even on a 80GB PS3, and the main menu was just sad. For the transfer to Bluray they could have given it a special menu or some java snaz, different from the HD-DVD version but there was nada. The lossless audio was not a big turn on, and I found that I bought it "just to have it" to add to the collection.
Summation... buy it to show off your HD-TV or just have in your collection but don't waste your time or money on special edition sets or such to me it was just another HD movie. |

Finally..
The movie overall has plot holes bigger than Optimus Prime him/itself....like these robotic aliens from another planet using the same exact technology as people on earth when it comes to weaponry...
but the action was great and the audio track was flawless...
I was dying to just give this a 4....but 4.5 is right on the money....it actually looks better than the HD DVD version and sounding better was already a given...so a 4.5 on improving things that they could have been lazy with like Warner does...
definitely worth the buy... |
