Ultraviolet

Being a Sci-Fi fan I enjoyed this movie, although slightly condemned by some critics. The movie is viewed in full screen 16:9 add 1080 to the brew to set the stage for a very cool experience. The disc Itself is packed with extra goodies with Trailors and Blu-ray titles thats on its way. Averall a good buy.

It Was Done In A World I May Not Understand

"I was born into a world you may not understand," says a purple-haired Milla Jovovich, and indeed, I don't think I understand this movie at all.

IMO, even for a comic-style sci-fi, its story is iffy at best with absolutely no character development, lousy acting, way too much effects that are kind of executed poorly, and even scenes / ideas ripping off directly from other great sci-fi movies like the Matrix.

Its production was so lousy that, even the extra suffers!!! The very first video (on a rainy day across from a bunch of residental buildings) shown was shot in Hong Kong, NOT Shanghai, China for crying out loud.

Hot, hot, hot!!

Great flick, great video and audio quality!!!! Don't have it? Buy it!! Okay, so I love Milla Jovovich, but, this is a great story line, with strong charector support and... you can't beat the outfits. Regrets... nude scanner scene only shows the backside. If your a Milla fan, you should love this movie.

Bluray.com Reviewer too critical

the Video for this Blu Ray is spot on without a doubt, and the sound hits on all levels.

great demo disc for stores and gets HDTV's noticed when played. CompUSA for one.

considering the shortcutting and lousy transfers on most releases from Warner and Fox and especially Universal and lack thereof for fresh transfers , extras, and worthy Bluray titles

Sony did good with this one

Great visuals but lacking content

I had high hopes for this film as I like Milla's other movies and I'm a big fan of sci-fi. I was unfortunately let down with the plot. There didn't seem to be a lot of depth to the characters or the plot but I'll probably add this one to my collection just for the PQ. I believe this was shot with an HD camera and the detail was great. The film's colors were not the usual and I'm assuming this was the intent of the director. If it hadn't been for this, I would have given this a PQ of 10 but the way it was processed gave it an unnatural look. The action scenes and special effects were cool and what you would expect from Milla's previous work but there were just too many problems with the plot for me.

Ultraviolet

Lots of action but a somewhat weak story line. However, if you are looking for some demo material
to show your friends then they won't be disappointed by the amazing sound and PQ quality. This BD
is definitely worth a look or even a purchase if you are a Milla fan.

87 Minutes of my life I can never get back...

This movie was atrocious on so many levels from acting to story telling and yet very "pretty" to look at. Tell you what, Take some crystal meth, put on some 3d glasses, plug in your lava lamp and get back to me. Maybe then it will live up to its expectations.

Go Milla Go

This film reminded me of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Both were far from memorable - a bit due to filming style and another part to a horrible script with minimal surprises or much story telling. Milla Jovovich is incredibly beautiful in this film. Extremely athletic and still sensual. This lady has proven herself to be a quality action star. Nice sure if she ever make it to high end action film she deserves. Her biggest flick being Fifth Element and most lower grade releases of The Resident Evil franchise and Ultraviolet. The kicker is that she can really act too.

Despite being a bad movie the PQ is impressive along with the SQ. The transfer to blu is worth watching more than once. I found the action scenes to be extremely well done and generally what makes me watch the film a couple of times per year. The was a character made for Jovovich but the film a whole was horrible and the character of Violet is unlikely to see any kind of return to the big screen. Even at 1080 the action is smooth and seemless. There not debris or dirt in the transfer. The colors mix in the film is sharp, contrasting and brilliant - Eyecatching.

This isn't going to be one of your main films, but picking up the film for under $10 as I did it's not a bad purchase, particularly if you watch movies for various elements that you enjoy. The action and special effects are enough for me and seeing Milla Jovovich kicks butt on my big screen is worth more than one viewing.

Entertaining

This movie has really weak storyline, but the action makes up for it. As far as the tech side, the Video transfer was amazing 5.0 but the audio was horrible. There where many scenes when you could barely hear the gunfire. If your a action lover or a Milla Jovovich fan (which i am) you will enjoy this movie.

The theatrical version is pretty definitively a waste of time.

This BD was from the early days of the format, when a few Sony and Disney movies released in unrated versions on DVD were inexplicably put on Blu-ray in their theatrical versions only. Usually that just means a bit less explicit violence or the lack of an unnecessary scene that was reinserted to get an "unrated" stamp, but unfortunately that's not the case here. Both versions of 'Ultraviolet' have a narrated introduction setting up the story, for instance, but in the theatrical version it blips by in about three seconds and in the unrated version it's long and detailed; in short, the unrated version actually, y'know, makes sense. If you like stuff like 'Barbarella' and/or every third Milla Jovovich movie (you know, the ones where she shoots a lot of people in a futuristic setting), 'Ultraviolet' is a halfway enjoyable movie with the story properly explained—really very entertaining for nearly the first half, which is one long, ridiculous chase, then slower and duller (but still pretty enjoyably silly) as it goes on. But the theatrical version, unfortunately, is a grueling endurance test that makes just about no sense at all. I got this free with my BD player after watching the unrated version on DVD, and I was mighty surprised to see how much of a difference a few minutes made. No wonder everyone hated this in theaters!

As for the image and sound quality, as everyone else says, they're pretty top notch, especially for a title released a couple of years ago. You still may find it disappointing as a demo disc because the picture is so aggressively tweaked and filtered in order to look strange and artificial.

Gosh...this one was bad

But the PQ and AQ was great so it's eye candy I really like the picture quality, possible one of the best i've seen on Blu-ray.

Buy it for the stunning hi-def quality, not for the movie itself- wich is a real dissapointment.

Ultraviolet

This is the movie that turn me into a blue-ray disk fan. Great movie, insane colors, cool action the only thing that was missing was the blood, so much stylish killing and not a drop of blood (besides the blood test that beautiful went through). I like the movie and it remind me of my favorite japanese action series the lone wolf.

Best Blu-ray Video PQ but Worst Movie in Blu-ray ...

Video PQ is definity possible the best out i seen in blu-ray, i watch over 40 blu-ray films. Nearly all shopt is perfect sharp done. Very detaild also thanks to increadi CQ effect. Sound is good using PCM. Movie very bad possible worst i seen in blu-ray. What kind of plot is that? half ass done. Is very short film about hour and 30 minues. Is till worth to rent for sure just too se what blu-ray is trutly capable of.
