Good rescue movie
Vertical Limit is a good disaster rescue movie that has plently of thrills and action that will keep you entertained. The opening is truly thrilling and it never stops from there, Campbell brings his great direction sytle to provide us with awesome stunt work. Vertical Limit isn't perfect, the script could have used some work in the dialogue area and they almost forced disasters to kill off characters which wasn't needed. The ending is also quite predictable about 15 minutes into the movie. Minor problems aside, V.L is a fun and thrilling movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The PQ is slightly dissapointing, the movie has beautiful scenery however there is grain present all the time and it just isn't as sharp as newer titles. It still looks good, there are awesome sequences and the grain doesn't fade slightly as it goes on (i think it because of the CGI used in the opening scenes keeping the grain heavy. The AQ is great, clear and when the storm and collapses happen, it does provide a powerful sound. I didn't watch the extras. I enjoyed Veritcal Limit and it's one of the better rescue movies I have seen but the disc could have have used a little more to get rid of the grain in the beginning sequences but overall it definetly worth a look. |

Cliff hanging thrills aplenty.
This was a flagship title when the DVD format was launched. For some reason i'd never got round to seeing it. Still, the reviews here said it was pretty good, and i got a copy off a certain auction site for a mere £5!
Not expecting too much, i was really suprised! This movie is a really good little action thriller. Lots of palm sweating, mountain peril moments, and the plot and cast is good enough to make you care about its characters (well, except Bill Paxton!). There are a few daft moments when reality is stretched somewhat, but it was fun.
Blu-Ray is pretty sweet too. Visuals are really quite nice. The sweeping mountain vistas lend themselves well to high defenition, and things like snow and ice can be seen sparkiling nicely. There are some moments where detail is a bit soft, and noticeable grain is showing, but not nearly enough to get upset about.
PCM sound was well above average too. Surround speakers get busy, and there is some nice ambient sounds (in the echoy cave scenes etc.). Sub gets a good thumping too. Chopper blades thud around the room, and the avalanches really crash out of the screen at you!
Very impressed, especially as this is a catalogue title, and a budget one at that. |

"YOU'RE AT THE VERTICAL LIMIT. YOU'RE ALREADY DYING"
Great action flick with plenty of thrills and chills shot mostly on location in New Zealand. The outdoor cinematography is wonderful with beautiul shots of the mountains.
Lots of tensions and suspense throughout to keep the viewer on the edge of their seats
This is a very early BR release but it looks quite good and the PCM track is decent if not over powering.
Picked it up for $9.99 great deal!!

Vertical Limit
Excellent video quality! It's truly told the different between DVD and the powerful of 1080p. The background of the snow, the people expression, and others... What I can comment is the must own blue-ray. |

Límite Vertical
Imagen buena y sonido excelente (PCM). |

dumbest movie ever
This movie was horrible in theaters, and is just as brutal in home entertainment. I borrowed this blu-ray from a friend to confirm it....one of the most stupid scenes in movie history....finding the dead woman on the top of the mountain....after all those years.....i remember laughing in the theater...and i laughed again......do NOT BUY this movie....rent it if you want to laugh.....the only thing good about this film was the great AQ....that's it.....horrible flick |
