E.T. Blu-ray Promo Trailer

Universal Studios has released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Blu-ray release of Steven Spielberg's E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), starring Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore and Peter Coyote. A preliminary release date is yet to be revealed, but the promo trailer indicates that the release will be out in Fall 2012.

The Hunger Games Blu-ray (Pre-order Available)

In August, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring The Hunger Games to Blu-ray. This adaptation of author Suzanne Collins' popular science-fiction novel focuses on the post-apocalyptic remnants of the United States as well as the Hunger Games, a televised event pitting young adults against one another in a fight to the death. The Hunger Games streets on August 18th.

British distributors Odeon Entertainment have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of director Roy Boulting's Sailor of the King (1953), starring Jeffrey Hunter, Michael Rennie and Wendy Hiller. Lionsgate and Studio Canal Renew Distribution Deal

Lionsgate has renewed its distribution agreement with French giant Studio Canal. The company will continue to have access to more than 2000 titles from Studio Canal's library, which can be released in North America. Under the new agreement, Studio Canal also gets German rights for the next installment of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire.

First Films to be Restored by Gaumont Revealed

Earlier this year, French distributors Gaumont announced that they have secured funding to restore 270 films from their catalog during the next four years. The first 25 films have now been revealed. The first Blu-ray releases with the new restorations are expected in 2013.

My Movies Android App Now Available

Ben Wheatley's Sightseers Goes to IFC Films

Warner Bros. and Apple have just released the first trailer for The Great Gatsby. Director Baz Luhrmann's 3D reimagining of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel stars Leonardo DiCaprio (Romeo + Juliet) as the title character, a mysterious and extravagantly wealthy playboy whose presence in 1920's New York City sends shock waves through the accepted social hierarchy. The Great Gatsby's scheduled U.S. release date is December 25th.
