Zeppelin was at one time the biggest band on earth, and the legacy lives on. Amazing to consider the many other bands that recorded during the same period in music. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Frank Zappa, The Band, CCR, Bowie, The Doors, Joni Mitchell, CSN, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead. Just to name a few. What an amazing time that was.
of course this brings to mind "what actually qualifies as a classic rock band?"...
so, I'll go with kiss, alice cooper, pink floyd, led zeppelin, beatles, rush, rolling stones, queen, (and more but I'm afraid those might not qualify as classic rock)
The Faces -
Rod Stewart in his prime, a pre-Stones Ronnie Wood, one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of that time - Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan on keys and a pre-Who Kenny Jones on drums!
Overall I have to go with Pink Floyd, though practically all the bands mentioned here (NOT Rush, I can't stand Rush!) get playtime on my custom Pandora radio station...
