From my understanding the "uncut" version of Live Free is actually just some after the fact redubbing with some extra swear words and added CG violence for the DVD release. So it's not exactly the director's cut. I think a few F-bombs are the original audio but several aren't. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
And if these aren't remasters of the originals, then no dice. I can't see myself having any interest in what appears to be a mildly interesting bonus disc. I'm actually pretty happy this wasn't a remaster since I just bought the set for $20 a few months back. I imagine this will be significantly more expensive.
I'll only buy this IF the unrated cut of Live Free or Die Hard is included. I wish they would have waited until the new Die Hard movie was being released on Blu ray and include that in the set. New masters for the first 3 would be nice too. That should have been a no brainer. Repackaging with a bonus disc doesn't cut it for me.
I agree they should have waited and included the 5th movie in the box set. If its coming out in theatres in February, they could have waited to release the box set around June when the 5th movie comes out on blu-ray. It could still be the 25th anniversary since the original Die Hard was released in July of 1988.
I love the franchise and would double dip for a remastered set with the unrated "Live Free" as seamless branching option, but I doubt this 25th Anniversary Collection offers any of that. Too bad.
I have the uncut version on dvd, its the same version that played in cinemas in many regions outside the USa. The boxset has the same rating as the uncut version of the film because of the previous entries so I don't know why they keep missing it in the blu ray sets, makes no sense. The uncut version is better because Mclaine should use curse words and that is how it was originally filmed. I have avoided any die hard blu ray sets until they fix Die Hard 4 for blu ray. If it is in this set I will pick it up or then again I could just wait for the set 10 months down the road with Die hard 5 included.
I bought the unrated version of "Live Free or Die Hard" on DVD and I prefer it. Yeah it's some extra swears and blood but it helps! I own only the original on Blu-ray so if by some miracle they created the unrated cut of #4, I'd buy this
WOW really ? Note to Fox, Yes, by repackaging UNREMATERED films already available, I will RUSH to the theaters to watch the next installment in the franchise. Way to go marketing dept, you FAILED the public ONCE again !!

What is needed is Fox to carry over all the special features of the Die Hard dvds, also include the deleted extended plane crash scene that is mention in the commentary for Die Hard 2 and the bloodier shoot-outs, and an uncut Live Free or Die Hard
Sometimes crazy bi-atches steal all your blu-rays and your pissed off because it includes your Die Hard collection. then something like this comes along and your actually excited to buy something.. AGAIN
I hope on the new Die Hard Blu-Ray Collection the 1st 3 Die Hard films get new Blu-Ray transfers because the original blu-ray release of Die Hard was good but the picture quality was so so.
Die hard 5? OMG, what's next 6...........7............8. How many times can McClane have a shitty time?
I think that I will wait for the 10 disk boxset. The one with the last of the series, Die Hard 10 'Finally dead'
Willis said he would do at least part 6. they just better bring it full circle with a proper closing close to the original and call it OLD HABITS DIE HARD!
The teachers these days are really dropping the ball on this constant and ever-growing grammatical error. Anything the person who writes like this says loses all credibility as soon as the incorrect word is read.
One more thing:
Ellipses consist of a space, three periods, and a space before continuing with the sentence.
For starters, I hope that this set will include the uncut version of Die Hard 4. Secondly I agree with others saying Fox should have waited in order to include Part 5. Unless they'll have an empty slot for the fifth movie to be inserted. Will be buying as I don't currently have the films on disc.
It's too predictable what they're going to do guys, wake up and smell the coffee! Next xmas we'll finally get the set we're looking for, all issues addressed, including DH 5, paitence daniel san paitence................................
Would be nice if they do what they did with the Bond set on the eve of Skyfall, to include an empty slot for the upcoming movie, thats the only way i'd see necessary to buy this set, since i already have the original one
Does any one know if they extended Shutdown Sequence that was on the original Die Hard (2 disc DVD) will be carried over to this box set? The special features on the Die Hard 1 blu ray are awful compared to the DVD.
Why don't they wait until A Good Day to Die Hard is released on Blu to release this set with all 5 movies, and give themselves some time to remaster the first 3 movies? I wouldn't mind the PG-13 cut of Live Free or Die Hard, since the Unrated cut's f-bombs were added in post specifically for that release, and look horribly phoned in, in terms of dubbing...
One thing I hated is that they never have released the uncut of Live Free or Die Hard on Blu-ray. Still have yet to own the rest though so I'll only bite if the uncut of that movie is in this set.
Maybe they'll include an empty "slot" for the fifth film like the James Bond box set...that would be forward thinking, wouldn't it?
The unrated version is listed as 1 minute longer...
•Region 1 unrated DVD version contains frequent use of strong profanity and stronger violence (bullet hits are more graphically seen with blood spraying out). Also, McClane's signature line is now heard in full, as the gunshot does not obscure the latter part of it.
