20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray director Ben Lewin's The Sessions (2012), starring John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy, and Adam Arkin. The release will be available for purchase online and in shops across the nation on February 12th.
Earlier this year, The Sessions won Audience Award (Best Dramatic Film) and the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Paralyzed and confined to an iron lung since childhood, poet-journalist Mark O'Brien (Hawkes) has overcome adversity time and time again. But now, at age 38, he faces his toughest challenge yet: losing his virginity. With the help of a beautiful therapist (Hunt), a sympathetic priest (Macy), and his own unbridled sense of optimism and humor, Mark embarks on an extraordinary personal journey to discover the wondrous pleasures that make life worth living.
I saw this a couple of weeks ago. It's a fun movie that deals with disability in an honest, straight-forward way without being sentimental. The lead actors do a fine job. William H. Macy makes a surprisingly great liberal priest.
